Abstract : Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris |
Kajian ini dijalankan untuk mengenalpasti persekitaran pembelajaran, motivasi dan
pencapaian Bahasa Inggeris dalam kalangan murid sekolah rendah. Selain itu, kajian
ini juga bertujuan untuk mengenalpasti saling hubungan antara komponen-komponen
persekitaran pembelajaran, motivasi dan pencapaian Bahasa Inggeris dalam kalangan
murid-murid sekolah rendah. Kajian ini melibatkan seramai 200 orang murid Tahun
Lima daerah Manjung yang dipilih melalui teknik persampelan rawak berstrata.
Terdapat tiga jenis instrumen yang digunakan dalam kajian ini iaitu What is
Happening in This Class (WIHIC), Intrinsic and Extrinsic Motivational Orientation
dan skor murid dalam tiga jenis penilaian Bahasa Inggeris, iaitu Ujian Bulan Mac,
Peperiksaan Pertengahan Tahun dan Peperiksaan Akhir Tahun. Data yang diperolehi
dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif dan teknik Model Persamaan
Berstruktur (SEM). Dapatan analisis deskriptif menunjukkan bahawa min keseluruhan
komponen-komponen persekitaran pembelajaran, motivasi dan pencapaian Bahasa
Inggeris masing-masing ialah, 3.90, 3.70 dan 2.96. Manakala, dapatan analisis
inferensi menunjukkan komponen kerjasama mempunyai hubungan yang signifikan
dengan motivasi, di mana nilai beta coefficient yang diperolehi ialah0.49 pada paras
signifikan p=0.02. Kesimpulannya, kajian ini mendapati bahawa persekitaran
pembelajaran dan motivasi murid-murid sekolah rendah masih berada pada tahap
yang sederhana, manakala pencapaian Bahasa Inggeris berada pada tahap yang
rendah. Selain itu, komponen kerjasama memainkan peranan yang signifikan dalam
meningkatkan motivasi murid-murid sekolah rendah. Sebagai implikasi, komponenkomponen
persekitaran pembelajaran, motivasi dan pencapaian Bahasa Inggeris
masih perlu ditingkatkan dalam kalangan murid-murid sekolah rendah. Selain itu,
guru-guru juga perlu memainkan peranan dalam menggalakkan aktiviti yang
melibatkan kerjasama murid-murid bagi memupuk motivasi mereka untuk
mempelajari Bahasa Inggeris secara lebih mendalam. |
