Abstract : Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris
Tujuan utama kajian ini adalah untuk menentukan keberkesanan program SPARK (Sports Play Active and Recreation for Kids) ke atas perubahan peratus lemak badan, tahap  kardiovaskular dan minat terhadap aktiviti fizikal dalam kalangan kanak-kanak yang berumur 11  tahun. Program SPARK yang mengandungi empat aktiviti kecergasan fizikal dan empat aktiviti  kecergasan kemahiran yang telah dijalankan selama lapan (8) minggu di empat buah sekolah rendah di  Teluk Intan, Perak. Kajian ini berbentuk true experimental pre and post control group design.  Sampel kajian terdiri daripada 240 murid yang telah dipilih berdasarkan kaedah ‘intact sampling’  iaitu dalam keadaan di mana semua murid yang terdapat dalam lapan buah kelas dalam darjah lima (5)  di empat buah sekolah dikekalkan sebagai subjek kajian. Subjek kajian seterusnya dibahagikan kepada  kumpulan rawatan (n=120) dan kumpulan kawalan (n=120) secara rawak. Data dianalisis dengan  menggunakan ANCOVA Dua Hala. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan terdapat perbezaan skor min pasca antara  kumpulan rawatan dengan kumpulan kawalan bagi peratus lemak badan [F(1,117) = 668.092, p < .05],  tahap kardiovaskular [F(1,117) = 232.30, p < .05] dan minat terhadap aktiviti fizikal [F(1,117) =  175.485, p < .05] yang signifikan bagi murid lelaki selepas menjalani Program SPARK. Dapatan kajian  juga menunjukkan terdapat perbezaan skor min pasca bagi peratus lemak badan [F(1,117) = 628.166, p  < .05], tahap kardiovaskular [F(1,117) = 2279.920, p < .05] dan minat terhadap aktiviti fizikal  [F(1,117) = 363.741, p < .05] yang signifikan antara kumpulan rawatan dengan kumpulan kawalan bagi  murid perempuan selepas menjalani Program SPARK. Kesimpulannya, Program SPARK memberikan perubahan  yang positif dan signifikan kepada murid-murid yang menerima intervensi program berbanding kumpulan  murid- murid yang mengikuti kelas Pendidikan Jasmani seperti biasa. Implikasi kajian menunjukkan  bahawa penggunaan Program SPARK dapat menarik minat murid- murid   untuk   mengambil   bahagian    dalam aktiviti fizikal seterusnya dapat meningkatkan tahap prestasi kecergasan fizikal dalam kalangan murid-murid.
