Penguasaan yang lemah dalam kemahiran bahasa dan komunikasi akan menjejaskan kemahiran literasi awal, dan seterusnya kemahiran membaca dan menulis kanak-kanak. Justeru, artikel ini menjelaskan beberapa aktiviti sokongan bagi perkembangan bahasa dan komunikasi kanak-kanak yang boleh dijalankan oleh guru. Antara aktiviti yang dapat menyokong pencapaian bahasa dan komunikasi kanak-kanak, ialah; (i) interaksi dan perbualan; (ii) bermain; (iii) menyanyi dan bahasa berima; (iv) membaca buku; dan (v) bercakap di khalayak. Aktiviti-aktiviti ini perlu dijalankan terhadap kanak-kanak secara implisit dan eksplisit oleh guru sama ada di dalam atau di luar kelas. Guru memainkan peranan penting bagi menyediakan aktiviti, suasana, persekitaran, dan bimbingan serta sokongan bagi menjamin kanak kanak dapat mencapai potensi diri masing-masing. |
