Bekas banduan yang berakhir sebagai gelandangan bukan suatu isu baharu di mana-mana negara di dunia.Kegagalan berintegrasi semula menjadikan mereka sebagai gelandangan. Kesulitan tersebut dirumitkan lagi dengan kewujudan bekas banduan yang terjerumus ke dalam kancah kemiskinan dan kedaifan hingga menyebabkan mereka tidak berupaya untuk keluar dari lingkungan hidup di jalanan. Oleh itu, kajian ini dilakukan bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan bekas banduan ini berakhir hidup menjadi gelandangan. Kajian menggunakan kaedah kualitatif dengan menemu bual seramai 15 orang responden. Teknik persampelan bertujuan dan persampelan bola salji digunakan untuk mengenal pasti responden. Hasil kajian menunjukkan terdapat beberapa faktor yang menyebabkan mereka berakhir sebagai gelandangan iaitu penolakan keluarga, pengangguran, diskriminasi masyarakat dan penagihan dadah yang berterusan. Dapatan kajian mampu dijadikan panduan oleh Jabatan Penjara Malaysia dan Jabatan Kebajikan Malaysia serta agensi berkaitan pemulihan dalam membentuk program bantuan dan sokongan lanjutan yang bersesuaian. Hal ini membolehkan gelandangan bekas banduan keluar daripada kehidupan di jalanan.
