Abstract : Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris
Objektif kajian ini adalah untuk meneliti aspek persekitaran literasi keluarga (penyediaan bahan dan ruang pembelajaran, sikap, interaksi dan komunikasi serta penggunaan masa bersama anak prasekolah ketika di rumah) dan tahap pendidikan ibu bapa terhadap penerapan kemahiran membaca dalam kalangan ibu bapa kanak-kanak prasekolah ketika di rumah. Reka bentuk penyelidikan kuantitatif dipilih untuk menjawab tujuh persoalan kajian dan lima hipotesis. Instrumen borang Soal Selidik yang terbahagi kepada tiga bahagian digunakan untuk mengukur aspek persekitaran literasi keluarga dan penerapan kemahiran membaca dalam kalangan ibu bapa kanak-kanak prasekolah di rumah. Seramai 349 orang ibu bapa kanak-kanak prasekolah di sekitar Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur dipilih sebagai responden menggunakan teknik Persampelan Rawak Berstrata. Analisis Kolerasi Pearson r menunjukkan bahawa terdapatnya hubungan yang signifikan di antara aspek persekitaran literasi keluarga dan tahap pendidikan ibu bapa terhadap penerapan kemahiran membaca dalam kalangan ibu bapa kanak-kanak prasekolah di rumah. Analisis Regrasi mendapati bahawa lima faktor peramal dalam kajian ini adalah signifikan dari nilai 0 (F5, 343 = 40.76, p < 0.05) yang selanjutnya menjelaskan bahawa kesemua pemboleh ubah bebas tersebut menyumbang kepada penerapan kemahiran membaca dalam kalangan ibu bapa kanak-kanak prasekolah di rumah. Implikasi kajian menunjukkan bahawa penggunaan masa ibu bapa yang tinggi ketika di rumah dijangka dapat mempertingkatkan lagi usaha penglibatan ibu bapa dalam aktiviti penerapan kemahiran membaca bersama anak prasekolah mereka di rumah. Kajian yang komprehensif perlu dilaksanakan ke atas kanak-kanak prasekolah di seluruh Malaysia bagi melihat kesan persekitaran literasi keluarga terhadap aktiviti penerapan kemahiran membaca yang dilaksanakan oleh ibu bapa ketika di rumah.
