Structural, intensity parameters and luminescence analysis of rGO-/CNTs-Coated tellurite glass doped with erbium nanoparticles

Abstract

This study aimed to improve the optical properties of reduced graphene oxide- and carbon nanotubes-coated tellurite glass doped with erbium oxide nanoparticles denoted as ZBTEr(NPs)-rGO and ZBTEr(NPs)-CNTs. Two sets of glass series were synthesized by melt-quenched technique with chemical composition of (0.47(1-y))TeO2+(0.2(1- y))B2O3+(0.29(1-y))+ZnO+Er2O3(y) wherein, y = 0.005, 0.01, 0.02, 0.03, 0.04, and 0.05 mol% Er2O3 nanoparticles. Tellurite-based glass was deposited with rGO and CNTs onto the glass surfaces by spray-coated technique. The physical, morphological, structural, and optical properties of ZBTEr(NPs)-rGO and ZBTEr(NPS)-CNTs glasses were characterized via densimeter, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transforminfrared (FT-IR), micro-Raman spectroscopy, ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectrophotometer, and photoluminescence. Investigating the predictive effects of depression and self-esteem on suicide ideation among Malaysia east coast undergraduate students

Abstract

Today, suicide is a significant, urgent and serious issue in public health. Studies on suicide ideation in Malaysian young adults were rarely conducted for the public due to cultural and religious factors. Numerous studies on depression and suicide among young people in Malaysia have often been conducted in developed and high-population densities such as Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Pulau Pinang, Sabah, and Sarawak. In contrast, states on the East Coast of Malaysia recorded fewer studies on suicide and depression by researchers. Thus, this study investigates the relationships and predictive effects of depression and self-esteem on suicide ideation among undergraduate students. Data were gathered from a sample of 439 (18.5% male; 81.5% female) undergraduate students aged 19-26 with an average age of 22 (SD=1.33) who completed measures on depression, self-esteem, suicide ideation and socio-demographic profiles. Public health in the post COVID-19 pandemic and mental health onslaught: social isolation based on a biopsychosocial approach

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has unveiled profound deficiencies in global mental health care and prevention, posing a disproportionate threat to public health worldwide. Social isolation, a consequence of the pandemic, has strained the boundaries of human cooperation, giving rise to a spectrum of mental health challenges including stress, fear, grief, anxiety, and depression. This research empirically investigates the concept of social distance concerning individuals with mental health conditions while considering biopsychosocial determinants, notably social media influence and attitudes. A comprehensive analysis was conducted on a sample comprising 424 students from public universities along the eastern coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The findings reveal that attitudes towards mental health and the influence of social media play substantial roles in predicting social distance from individuals with mental health conditions. Effective learning among Malaysian juveniles: Key elements for success

Abstract

Effective learning is crucial for helping young people gain knowledge, skills, and overall development. This study aims to identify key factors necessary for effective learning in rehabilitation schools for juveniles. A constructivist grounded theory (CGT) approach was employed to gain a deeper understanding. Fifteen teachers, three administrators, and five education experts participated in the study using purposive sampling. Data was collected via in-depth interviews with these participants. The thematic analysis revealed four main themes essential for effective learning among juveniles: teachers (qualifications, teaching methods, and attitudes), juveniles (emotions and interest in learning), rehabilitation schools (administrator support and learning facilities), and community (support from families and assistance from governmental and non-governmental organizations). A study on the technology acceptance in using online education among secondary school teachers in Kinta district Perak

Abstract

This study explores the factors influencing teachers_ technology acceptance in using online education. It also measures the relationship between variables, the best predictor, and the mediating role of variables of online teaching among secondary school teachers in the Kinta district in Perak. The study employs the quantitative research approach. The survey is distributed to a group of teachers selected based on the subjects taught. The data collected was analysed using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). This study has proven that Intention to Use (IU) is the strongest predictor for Usage Behaviour (UB). Apart from that, Attitude (ATT) seems to have an excellent influence on Perceived Ease of Use (PEOU) and Usefulness (PU). Results reveal that although many problems arise throughout the implementation period, teachers are still passionate and eventually find ways to adapt to the technology. Kajian ini bertujuan membangunkan Model SPIKK, sebuah Model Asas Pengajaran Berdasarkan Nilai-Akhlak dalam STEM Matematik di Sekolah Rendah dan menilai kebolehgunaannya. Reka bentuk penyelidikan menggunakan pendekatan Design and Development Research (DDR) melalui tiga fasa: (1) analisis keperluan, (2) reka bentuk dan pembangunan, dan (3) penilaian kebolehgunaan. Temu bual separa struktur telah digunakan bagi fasa analisis keperluan dan penilaian kebolehgunaan model, manakala fasa reka bentuk menggunakan Fuzzy Delphi Method (FDM) dan fasa pembangunan menggunakan Interpretive Structural Modelling (ISM) dengan perisian Concept Star. Seramai 51 pakar telah dipilih melalui teknik pensampelan bertujuan.
