| 121 | 2025 Thesis | The effect of education training skill motivation and policy to increase business performance in swallow bird industry Amiruddin Lamide Mailang This study aims to examine empirically the effect of variables of education, training and skills, on the performance of the swallow bird industry in Tempe Lake located at South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The study also examines the mediating effect of motivation and moderation effect of government policy in explaining the relationship between the studied variables. The study uses mixed method approach whereby 184 respondents were chosen using random sampling. Meanwhile, a total five case study were conducted using purposive sampling method as part of the qualitative approach. Structural Equation Modelling using AMOS was used to analyze the quantitative data. On the other hand, an Analysis of Interactive Model was incorporated to analyze the qualitative data. The survey was conducted by means of a questionnaire titled "Research and investigation on the implementation of music curriculum in primary schools in Shandong province, China" to find out the perceptions of music teachers from 32 primary schools in Binzhou City, Shandong Province, about the primary music curriculum. A total of 146 respondents participated in the questionnaire. Janebi Enayat, Mostafa The present study investigates whether it may be possible to use Vocabulary Levels Test (VLT) and Word Associates Test (WAT) for measuring language proficiency and placement purposes. In so doing, 85 upper-intermediate and 50 lower-intermediate EFL learners took Vocabulary Levels Test (VLT), Word Associates Test (WAT), and Oxford Placement Test (OPT). Results of correlation and regression analyses indicated that (a) Word Associates Test could not predict performance on Oxford Placement Test neither for the lower-intermediate nor the upper-intermediate group, (b) Vocabulary Levels Test could significantly predict performance on Oxford Placement Test for both proficiency groups, and (c) while the 2,000 word level correlated with and predicted performance on Oxford Placement Test for the lower-intermediate group, the 5,000 word level predicted performance on proficiency test for the upper-intermediate group. | 126 | 2016 Article | Empirical analysis of item difficulty and discrimination indices of senior school certificate multiple choice Biology tests Adekunle Thomas, OLUTOLA This study empirically analyzed the item difficulty and discrimination indices of senior school certificate examination SSCE multiple choice biology tests used by West African Examinations Council and National Examinations Council in Nigeria. Sample for the study consisted of 1450 Senior Secondary Three students drawn from 20 randomly selected secondary schools. Item by item analysis was used for obtaining difficulty and discrimination indices. Findings from the study showed that 2008 SSCE Biology multiple choice test had mean difficulty index of 0.42 and slightly higher than NECO Biology multiple choice test with mean difficulty index of 0.40 and 2008 SSCE in Biology had a discriminating power of 0.43 and higher than NECO with mean discriminating power of 0.39. It was recommended that 4 option items in multiple choice Biology tests should be encouraged but if 5 options items should be used more attention should be given to psychometric properties of tests.

The aim of this study was to develop a self-efficacy scale with two subscales of writing and social self-efficacy. To this effect, 261 high school students_ responses were used and resulted in development and validation of a 25-item self-efficacy scale. The presented two-factor model was supported with a principal factor analysis with high alpha reliabilities. It was also checked for model fit through conducting confirmatory factor analysis and was approved. Moreover, the developed scale was tested for presence of differential item functioning (DIF). The results presented confirmation for reliability and construct validity for the proposed scale and no DIF was detected. | 130 | 2025 Thesis | Adsorption of Rhodamine b by Sulfocalix(4)Arene thin films for dye removal application Farish Armani Hamidon This study investigates the potential of Sulfocalix[4]arene (SC[4]) thin film for the removal and molecular-level adsorption of Rhodamine B dye (RhB), focusing on its performance in extraction and adherence. SC[4] thin films with 5, 10, 15, and 20 layers were fabricated using the spin coating method and subsequently characterised for its optical and topographical properties. Optical characterisation using Ultraviolet-Visible Spectroscopy (UV-Vis) at wavelengths from 260 to 300 nm revealed a progressive increase in absorbance across layers, notably at 277 nm and 283 nm peaks. Topographical analysis was conducted using Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) to determine thickness and surface roughness. Results indicated a linear correlation between film thickness and the number of layers, with measurements of 58.175 nm for 5 layers, 77.626 nm for 10 layers, 84.608 nm for 15 layers, and 94.806 nm for 20 layers.
