503 | 2024 Article | Thermal conversion of coral waste and its utilization as low-cost catalyst for biodiesel production Azlan Kamari This study investigates the thermal conversion of waste coral and its utilization as a heterogeneous catalyst for biodiesel production from soybean oil. In this work, waste coral is calcined at varied temperatures of 800, 900, and 1000°C, and the effect of the calcination temperature on the physicochemical character of the solid is evaluated through Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and basicity measurement. The results show that the higher temperature facilitates the conversion of CaCO3 of the aragonite and calcite phases in raw waste coral into CaO, achieving a complete conversion at the temperature of 1000°C. Thermal conversion influences the increased surface basicity of the solid, which is associated with the higher activity for biodiesel production. Further studies on the obtained CaO as a catalyst demonstrate the catalyst dosage and the methanol-to-oil ratio as significant factors for fatty acid methyl ester production. T..... 30 hits |

505 | 2024 Article | Pancasila and the long shadow of suharto's authoritarianism, 1966-1998 Nasir Nayan This paper aims to analyze the history of the development of the political interpretation of Pancasila under Suharto's authoritarian rule between 1966 and 1998. The research questions are: 1) how did Pancasila become the ideological basis for authoritarian power? 2) How did Pancasila become the basis for pseudo-democracy during the Suharto government? This research was carried out using historical methods, relying on data from archives and newspapers from 1966 to 1998. Analysis of this research data used Historical Discourses Analysis (HDA). The findings show that Pancasila, at the beginning of the Suharto government, was trying to be cleansed of the influence of Sukarno and communism. In this period, Pancasila was reinterpreted. The success of the Suharto government in reinterpreting Pancasila was due to de-sukarnoization efforts and strict control over elements of society. In subsequent developments, Pancasila became the label and slogan in every government policy, the most famous of..... 39 hits |

509 | 2024 Article | Elastic and radiation shielding properties of zinc borotellurite glass systems: The impact of gadolinium oxide Mohd Haniff Mohd Tahir Using the formula [(TeO2)70(B2O3)30], this study examines the impact of Gd2O3 on the elasticity and radiation shielding characteristics of zinc borotellurite glass. Glass samples containing 1–5% mol% Gd2O3 were created by employing the melt quench technique. XRD verified that they are amorphous in nature, and the existence of TeO3, TeO4, BO3, and BO4 vibrational groups was revealed by infrared spectra. The structural alterations were shown by the range of longitudinal and shear ultrasonic velocities, which were 3908–4076 m/s and 2222–2277 m/s, respectively. The glass's rigidity was improved by the large rise in elastic moduli, such as bulk (45 GPa), longitudinal (80 GPa), shear (25 GPa), and Young's moduli (60 GPa), with a higher Gd2O3 content. Higher concentrations of Gd2O3 resulted in a rise in the mass attenuation coefficient (μρ), as measured by WinXcom, which enhanced gamma-ray shielding. The half-value layer (HVL) and mean free path (MFP) at 0.662 MeV decreased with incre..... 83 hits |
