Land use change and soil loss risk assessment by using geographical information system (GIS) and usle equation in Ipoh state, Malaysia
Tekhikh, Abdalfettah
Soil erosion is among of the most acute issues facing in the world, from the loss of soil to natural resources and crop farmers. The main objectives of this study were to analyze and Land use Changes from year 2000 to 2015 and possible soil erosion rate in the future. All spatial analysis work has been carried out in GIS Environment using ArcGIS version 10.3 all data that use in this study were obtained from Department of Agriculture in Malaysia. The total area was 1227.80 Km2. Results showed that the proportion of agriculture land in the study area increased significantly from 2000 to 2015 (30% to 34.35% of the total study area, The forest area in the study area has been decreased from 45.1% in 2000 to 42.5% in 2015 because exploited and transformed into u urban area, where the urban area was recorded from 14.34% in 2000 to 17.93% in 2015 with values of 183.1 km2 to 216.16 km2 of study area. Saba social theater: the solution for the conflict of supernatural characters as a healing process
Mohd Kipli Abdul Rahman
This study explores the conflict solution of supernatural characters in saba social theatre as a healing process. A qualitative method using an ethnographic approach is applied to explain the association between behaviour and culture. Referring to the field of cosmology, the universe has unravelled all the things that happen in the physical and metaphysical worlds, and that is asserted by human existence. Creativity in the production of human arts results from a relationship between humans and the universe, reflected in the existence of the cosmological relationship of the artist and their religious beliefs. This is also related to four cosmic elements: land, water, fire and wind. The work of art is also believed to have its own soul. The supernatural conflicts in the saba social theatre are examined to expose the existence of the physical and metaphysical cosmos underlying the world views of the saba ritual practitioners as a form of social theatre for healing. The saba social theatre.....

Design innovation of ceramic dental model moldwork through 3d printing
Megat Mohd Safwan Yahya
The study of ceramic dental molding models through three-dimensional printing technology aimed at studying the design of ceramic dental molding designs adapted through three-dimensional innovation as well as interpreting the innovative design of dental model molding materials through three-dimensional printing (3D Printing) and analysing the suitability of the results design of dental model molding materials through three-dimensional printing technology (3D Printing) based on design principles. This study uses a qualitative approach, using structured and non-structured observation and interview methods to analyse data and documents. Experimental studies of dental mold molding process procedures using conventional craft methods and three-dimensional printing technology methods were also conducted to obtain two comparisons of analytical data, namely conventional methods and three-dimensional printing technology. The findings show that the three-dimensional printing process of the same pr.....

The development and evaluation of an interactive Multimedia module for the topic of art elements of the Visual Art education subject
Harozila Ramli
This research aims to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of an interactive multimedia learning module for the topic of Elements of Art of the Visual Art Education subject for Form-One secondary school students. This study involved two methodological approaches involving the design and development of an interactive multimedia learning module and a case study. The development of the learning module was based on the ADDIE model involving five main phases, the analysis phase, design phase, development phase, implementation phase, and evaluation phase. The case study involved the evaluation of the effectiveness of the learning module based on pre-test post-test control group design. The sample of the study consisted of 30 FormOne students (15 girls and 15 boys, with a mean age of 13) recruited from a secondary school. They were randomly and equally divided into an experimental group (n = 15) and a control group (n = 15). Learning intervention lasted for a number of days. The research in.....

Developing an instrument of life balance factors among female engineers who have family: the application of modified Delphi technique
Ummu Sakinah Subri
This study aims to obtain expert approval and consensus on Life Balance construct instrument among female engineers who have family. The purpose of this instrument is to identify the factors that assist women engineers to have a well-balanced life. The technique used in developing this Life Balance instrument is the Modified Delphi technique. This technique was used to obtain consensus among experts in developing the Life Balance items. The instrument development was performed by seven experts who have expertise, experience, and knowledge in career and engineering fields. The initial results (interviews with experts) identified four key factors in achieving Life Balance which were childcare, flexible career, leave, and social support. An example of how to obtain an interquartile range (IQR) value using the Modified Delphi technique that was carried out for a second time until the consensus was achieved was provided. IQR value is a value derived from questionnaires completed by experts .....

An application of professional learning community approach to enhance language learning among students in Higher Education Institution
Abdul Rasid Jamian
Educators need to take action in terms of acquiring, creating and transferring their knowledge to students based on the professional learning community approach. It involves building a learning community in their classrooms. Researchers and professional organizations have cited the Professional Learning Community (PLC) process as having the potential to impact student achievement positively. As the current era of high stakes accountability has left educators struggling to improve the quality of teaching and learning, PLCs have been recommended to foster collaboration and make educator practices public. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to examine educator’ descriptions of their PLCs to determine if the practice of the principles influencedstudent academic performance in language teaching. A quantitative research design was implemented to explore the extent to which educator training in PLC principles, the actual practice of PLC principles, and student achievement in language t.....

The relationship between human development, tourism and economic growth: evidence from Malaysia
Gan, Pei-Tha
A remarkable feature of empirical studies is that not many research works investigate the relation between human development and tourism. Although gross domestic product may replace human development to measure economy progress and human well-being in relation to tourism, however, this definition, is narrow, limits to economic side, and ignores the social and cultural factors. To overcome this shortcoming, this study examines the relationship between human development, tourism and economic growth in Malaysia. By using different cointegration approaches, the results indicate that tourism is positively related to human development in the long run. The finding suggests that the known relationship may serve as a guide to policy makers to achieve better development of social and cultural in order to promote the growth...

Fostering intellectual excitement questionnaire: the development and validation
Ong, Eng Tek
This paper reports the findings on the development and validation of the Fostering Intellectual Excitement (IE) Questionnaire amongst the student teachers. Initially, 16 items which portray the construct of Fostering IE were generated and subsequently administered to a group of 248 teachers. Analyzing the dataset using the Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) indicates that, while all the 16 items of IE were retained, they were nevertheless clustered into 4 sub-constructs, labelled as Group Discussion (GD), Critical Thinking (CT), Evaluate Peer’s Work (EW) and Knowledge Transfer (KT) respectively. This 4-sub-construct Fostering IE Questionnaire was again administered to 458 in-service teachers and the dataset were analyzed by means of the Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) whereby each measurement model was tested to see the relationship of each sub-construct (or latent variable) with its measures. The finding shows that each of the four sub-constructs of the IE has the sufficient valid.....

The dynamic relationship between unemployment, inflation, interest rate and economic growth
Asmawi Hashim
The focal point of this study is the investigation of the dynamic relationship between selected macroeconomic variables, including unemployment, inflation, interest rate and economic growth, in Malaysia. In order to achieve the aims of thisstudy, quarterly time series data from the first quarter of 2001 until the fourth quarter of 2017 was utilised. The Johansen Juselius Co-integration test was used to investigate long run equilibrium in the equation system, and the Granger Causality test in Vector Error Correction framework was used to evaluate the long-term and short-term relationships between the study variables. The findings suggest that a relationship exists between the variables in the long term, including unemployment interest rate, inflation and economic growth across the system equations. The results further suggest that, in the short run, a two-way causality exists between unemployment and economic growth. Moreover, the results show that unemployment affects economic growth, .....
