| 7961 | 2019 Article | Comparative performance assessment of the most commonly used personnel radiation dosimeters in Nigeria Bappah S. Yahaya Radiation dosimeters exhibit several performance properties characterized by their precision and accuracy, linearity, dose and energy dependence, stability and spatial resolution. However, these characteristics may not be satisfied by all dosimeters. The dosimetric performances of Instadose and Thermolumniscence dosimeters (TLDs) which are the two most commonly used personal dosimeters in health care institutions were comparatively assessed under clinical settings in which a GE haulum XR 6000 X-ray machine with a frequency of 50/60 Hz was used to serially irradiate Mironinstadose and TLD 100H badges to a controlled exposure factors and readings of absorbed doses for instadose were obtained from a portable computer with internet access, while that of TLDs was obtained through heating using Harshaw 4500 automatic TLD reader at Center for Energy Research and Training (CERT), Zaria. The dose equivalent quantities measured were; Hp (10), Hp (3) and Hp(0.07) all in mSv, representing deep, ey..... 618 hits |

| 7963 | 2019 Article | Spectrum of dirichlet BDIDE operator Nurul Akmal Mohamed In this paper, we present the distribution of some maximal eigenvalues that are obtained numerically from the discrete Dirichlet Boundary Domain Integro-Dierential Equation (BDIDE) operator. We also discuss the convergence of the discrete Dirichlet BDIDE that corresponds with the obtained absolute value of the largest eigenvalues of the discrete BDIDE operator. There are three test domains that are considered in this paper, i.e., a square, a circle, and a parallelogram. In our numerical test, the eigenvalues disperse as the power of the variable coecient increases. Not only that, we also note that the dispersion of the eigenvalues corresponds with the characteristic size of the test domains. It enables us to predict the convergence of an iterative method. This is an advantage as it enables the use of an iterative method in solving Dirichlet BDIDE as an alternative to the direct methods

| 7964 | 2021 Thesis | The effect of six weeks CoBAgi training on coordination, dynamic balance & agility of adolescent handball players Mohamad Hasif Mohamad Puzi The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of six weeks CoBAgi
Training on coordination, dynamic balance and agility of adolescent handball players in order to
improve performance. Quasi-experimental design with pretest and posttest evaluation was used
for this study. A total of 30 adolescent handball players from SMK Lahat were chosen as
participants using purposive sampling methods. The participants were assigned randomly into two
groups consists of control group (CG: N=15) and experimental group (EG: N=15). The EG
undergone CoBAgi Training three times per week for six weeks while the CG continue with their
normal standard training program. Carioca Test was used to measure coordination, Star Excursion
Balance Test (SEBT) was used to measure dynamic balance and L-Run Test was used to measure agility.
Pretest and posttest of SEBT Test score, Carioca Test score and L-Run Te..... 2372 hits |
| 7965 | 2019 Article | Risk assessment of dietary exposure to aflatoxin contamination in spices Norhayati Ali This study highlights the daily consumption of spices in human diet and the potential of aflatoxin B1 (AFBI) contamination which attributable to the risk of developing liver cancer. All the AFBI contamination data in spices from various studies in Malaysia were considered for calculation of risk assessment by dietary exposure and margin of exposure (MOE). The mean dietary exposure to AFB1 ranges from 0.21-1.32 ng/kg-bw/day (overall mean, 0.59 ng/kgbw/day), and 12.27 ng/kg-bw/day was the highest reported level of AFBI contamination. The MOEs derived from these dietary exposures at a benchmark dose lower confidence limit (BMDL10) of 0.305 µg/kg-bw/day were 230-1,450 (overall mean, 520). The MOE of less than 10,000 indicates the risk of AFBI contamination in spices should be a high priority for risk management actions. Based on the tolerable daily intake (TDI) in Asia of 0.11-0.19 ng AFB1/kg-bw/day for liver cancer risk per 100,000 populations, the overall mean of 0.59 ng/kg-bw/day repre..... 1577 hits |
| 7966 | 2019 Article | Contamination level of Aflatoxins in Traditional Herbal Medicinal products (Jamu and Makjun) marketed in Malaysia. Suriani Mohamed Safety assessment for traditional herbal medicinal products such as “jamu” and “makjun” in Malaysia include the laboratory tests for heavy metals, microbiology and scheduled poisons. Test for aflatoxins is not included. Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) is genotoxic and carcinogenic. Its possible contamination in these products should be ruled out. In this study, 12 samples of “jamu” and “makjun”, analyzed using IAC clean-up and HPLC were found to have a mean levels of positive samples (incidence) as 0.97 (17%), 0.24 (17%), 0.92 (8%), 0.30 (8%) and 1.82 (17%) µg/kg, and the range was 0.94 - 0.99, 0.06 - 0.42, 0.92, 0.30 and 1.00 - 2.63 µg/kg, for AFB1, AFB2, AFG1,AFG2 and total AF, respectively. Low contamination level might be attributed to the antifungal effects of some medicinal herbs.

| 7967 | 2019 Article | Tertiary Eeducation saving patterns among Malaysian parents Fatimah Salwa Abd. Hadi While tertiary education provides many benefits to the individual, the community and the nation, we cannot deny that the cost is high and continues to rise each year. The younger generation have to take up loans to finance their study costs and then they have to pay back the loans after completing their studies. As such, the funds from the parents can be seen as an alternative which could help in realizing the tertiary education goal. The question is, do the parents realize and know the importance of tertiary education savings? Have they saved for their children’s education? How much do they save per month? Are the savings enough for their children’s university education? What is the savings medium utilized to make savings? Therefore, this paper focuses on two main objectives. The first objective is to identify the patterns of children's tertiary education savings among parents in Malaysia and the second objective is to determine the medium of saving used by parents to save their..... 1466 hits |
| 7968 | 2019 Article | Synthesis, characterization and in vitro bioactivity of chitosan- hydroxyapatite composite doped with magnesium Ismail Zainol This work reports the synthesis, characterization and in vitro response of a novel chitosan-hydroxyapatite composite doped with magnesium. Hydroxyapatite (HA), magnesium doped HA, chitosan-hydroxyapatite composite and the novel magnesium doped chitosan-hydroxyapatite composite were synthesised using coprecipitation method. The effects of magnesium and chitosan incorporation on the structural properties of the samples were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential thermal analysis (DTA). Bioactivity studies of the samples in simulated body fluid (SBF) was carried out. The incorporation of magnesium and chitosan into the lattice of the HA reduced the crystallinity and crystallite size of the HA. The chemical composition of the novel magnesium doped chitosan-HA composite was found to have resemblance to that of bone mineral. The novel material showed good bioactivity in SBF.
