strategy to improve English Foreign Language students’ ability in comprehending academic reading
materials. The subjects of this study consisted of 60 junior high school students in the district
of South Kalimantan, Banjarmasin. The researcher adopted a mixed-method and employed a
quasi-experimental design. The experimental group was taught by using KWL strategy while the
control group was taught by using the conventional strategy. The instruments used in this study
were questionnaires, pre and post-test and semi-structured interview. Data from questionnaires were
analyzed by using descriptive statistics. The findings revealed that the students were proficient
in reading activity and were interested in using KWL strategy in comprehending academic reading

| 8032 | 2019 Article | The effects of HIIT on physical abiulities among special education students Zulakbal Abd Karim This study was conducted to identify the effect of high intensity interval training (HIIT) on physical ability among special education students. A total of 30 participants from a special education school were divided into two groups, treatment group (n=15) and control group (n=15). The treatment group underwent usual normal sports training with additional of HIIT for eight weeks while control group underwent usual normal sports training for the same period of time. The tests that were conducted are 1 minute half sit up, 30m sprint, agility t-test and standing long jump. Independent t-test results showed that treatment group produces significantly greater percentages improvement in performance compared to the control group in all the tests performed. | 8033 | 2019 Article | The effectiveness of learning assessment instrument (LAI) based on teaching games for understanding (TGFU) for badminton games Mohd Izwan Shahril The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of Learning Assessment Instrument (LAI) for badminton games based on Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) in Physical Education (PE) subject. Present findings showed high validity and reliability of LAI when comparing students’ learning achievement. The students’ learning achievements of cognitive, psychomotor and affective aspects were performed very well at Band 5. This study also revealed there were no significant differences between boarding schools, religious schools and daily schools, but there was a strong relationship with students’ achievement. In conclusion, LAI was found to be very effective and can be used as a standard measurement in student’s reasoning activity and guide teachers in teaching and learning assessment. .. 963 hits |
| 8034 | 2019 Article | Engineering ethics education: A comparative study of Japan and Malaysia Balamuralithara Balakrishnan This paper reports the fndings of a comparative study in which students’ perceived attainment of the objectives of an engineering ethics education and their attitude towards engineering ethics were investigated and compared. The investigation was carried out in Japan and Malaysia, involving 163 and 108 engineering undergraduates respectively. The research method used was based on a survey in which respondents were sent a questionnaire to elicit relevant data. Both descriptive and inferential statistical analyses were performed on the data. The results of the analyses showed that the attainment of the objectives of engineering ethics education and students’ attitude towards socio-ethical issues in engineering were signifcantly higher and positive among Japanese engineering students compared to Malaysian engineering students. Therefore, this paper aims to discuss the premilanary findings of the internalization of noble values among students. This study is a quantitative study using a descriptive survey research design. | 8040 | 2019 Article | Exploring the factors affecting quality of work life among Millennial Academic Staff in Malaysian Public Universities Rafiduraida Abdul Rahman The article aims to explore factors that affects the quality of work life (QWL) among millennial academic staff in Malaysian public universities. Qualitative approach using semi-structured interview was conducted on ten millennial academic staff from four public universities in Malaysia to provide an in-depth explanation on the important factors that affect their QWL. The data were transcribed and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings identified that factors such as heavy workload, inadequate facilities, lack of advanced technology, leaders that provide less care on welfare, as well as students’ issue could affect the ability of the millenial academics to achieve a good QWL. On the other hand, other factors such as flexibility, supportive colleagues and job security help to ease their working life, hence, making their job more meaningful.
