Globalization is constantly impacting on education and is radically transforming it in terms of the mode and culture of learning. The shift from product-economy to knowledge-economy has profound implications for the kind of education a nation has to offer its future generation. The need for knowledge workers places emphasis on new attributes for learners, particularly those which pertain to twenty-first century skills. The last decade and a half has also seen the emergence of international student ranking lists such as TIMSS, PISA, PIRLS, Olympiads, which have put tremendous pressure on education ministries. Teacher education programmes the world over are based on national ideologies, policies and development plans. They are grounded in the culture of knowledge espoused by the major stakeholders (Bruner, 1996). The culture in turn is based on the value system espoused by the stakeholders concerned and this value system is incorporated and reflected in the teacher education programmes, particularly its curriculum and the management and development of the curriculum. A value system is in essence the ordering and prioritization of the ethical and ideological values that individuals or society hold. However, value systems are not something static. On the contrary they are dynamic and ever changing. In view of the emerging trends and challenges of globalization (Friedman, 2004), it has become necessary to view teacher education within the wider context of both the professional community and society at large. Employability and unemployment continue to be urgent issues that graduates faced daily in 21st Century employment market. Graduates from various local or overseas Institutions of Higher Education face increased competition for limited employment opportunities. Technical or academic qualification is no longer the only requirement needed to secure employment. Graduates require to have value-added to compete in the job market. Nowadays, human social skills turn out to become one of the vital prerequisite and an essential requirement needed by the industry. Hence, coaching is seen as a crucial valueadded to enhance graduate employability. Kajian ini dijalankan untuk meneliti peranan sekolah dalam pembentukan perpaduan antara kaum dalam kalangan pelajar.Objektif kajian ini merangkumi tiga perkara iaitu mengenal pasti tahap hubungan antara kaum di sekolah, mengenal pasti isu hubungan kaum dan melihat langkah-langkah yang dilaksanakan oleh pihak sekolah dan mengenal pasti masalah yang dihadapi oleh pihak sekolah dalam membentuk perpaduan antara etnik.Kajian ini menggunakan dua teori sosiologi iaitu Teori Fungsionalisme dan Teori Pilihan Rasional.Kaedah kualitatif dengan reka bentuk kajian kes digunakan dalam kajian ini.Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui pemerhatian, analisis dokumen dan temu bual.Seramai 22 orang peserta yang terdiri daripada seorang pentadbir, tiga orang guru dan 18 orang pelajar ditemu bual dalam kajian ini.Dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa tahap hubungan antara kaum berada pada tahap tidak mesra.Sekolah memainkan peranan yang penting dalam membentuk perpaduan antara etnik melalui sambutan perayaa.....
