1 | 2016 thesis | Optimizing physiological, psychological and performance outcomes using tapering techniques among junior cyclists Asmadi Ishak Tujuan kajian ini dijalankan adalah untuk mengkaji kesan peningkatan beban latihan dalam tiga hari terakhir fasa taper menggunakan protokol taper eksponen ke atas pemboleh ubah fisiologi, psikologi dan ujian masa 20KM dalam kalangan pelumba basikal remaja. Kajian ini melibatkan kumpulan kawalan dan dua kumpulan eksperimental iaitu kumpulan taper eksponen yang telah diubah suai dan kumpulan taper eksponen biasa. Dua puluh satu pelumba basikal remaja lelaki terlibat dalam kajian ini dan sembilan belas (19) peserta (purata umur = 16.95 ± 0.8 tahun) menamatkan kajian sehingga ke peringkat akhir. Peserta dipadankan berdasarkan nilai pengambilan oksigen maksimum (V02max) dari pengukuran awal dan dibahagikan kepada tiga kumpulan; taper eksponen biasa (NET), taper eksponen yang telah diubah suai (MET) dan kumpulan kawalan (CON). 4 | 2019 article | Two sets of dynamic stretching of the lower body musculature improves linear repeated-sprint performance in team-sports Asmadi Ishak Background: Warm-up including dynamic stretching is a popular and widely accepted practice as a pre-exercise routine for athletes. However, a shortage of studies investigating the impact of dynamic stretching on linear repeated-sprint performance exists.
Objectives: The present study aims to look at the effect of different volumes of dynamic stretching on 30 m linear repeated sprint performance in team sport athletes.
Methods: Fifteen male university team-sport players [age (mean ± SD) 22.1 ± 0.6 years, stature 166.9 ± 6.6cm and body mass 67.5 ± 8.0kg] underwent 3 sessions in this within-subjects counterbalanced study. All sessions included a general warm-up (5-minutes self-paced), followed by a dynamic stretching protocol (one set-DSS1; two sets-DSS2; three sets-DSS3) comprised of five active dynamic exercises for lower body musculature (gastrocnemius, gluteals, hamstrings, quadriceps and hip extensor). 5 | 2019 article | The acute effects of cluster set during complex training on countermovement jump Asmadi Ishak This study aims to determine the acute effects of complex training with a cluster set configuration on countermovement jump. A crossover counterbalance design was used in this study. Fourteen recreational male underwent three sessions of trainings, with a minimum of 72 hours between each session. In the complex training (CT) protocol, squats with 65% 1RM were used for resistance training while jump squats with 80% of maximum effort for plyometric. Subjects performed the resistance and plyometric training alternately, using either traditional (TRA) or cluster with two sets (CS2). In TRA, no rest was given between the repetitions until they completed the entire set. For CS2, the pairs of CT 30s rest were inserted between the repetitions. The results of the study showed no significant interaction between TRA and CS2 across the all parameters: CMJ height (p> 0.05), power (p>0.050, and velocity (p>0.05) respectively. 6 | 2023 article | Optimized training of force-velocity profiling on young sprinters performance: a systematic review Asmadi Ishak Force-velocity imbalance (FVimb) has been proposed as an effective tool for pre-scribing training loads to improve physical performance. An optimized training program was used according to individual Fv-profile to decrease FVimb thus indirectly improving sprint performance. This systematic review aimed to study the effectiveness of optimized training based on force-velocity (Fv) profiling in sprint performances among young athletes. The database of Google Scholar, ProQuest, Scopus, and PubMed was conducted in March 2022, and studies published since 1990 were considered for inclusion. A total of 2873 publications were initially identified, of which 6 studies qualify for this review. The studies were independently evaluated for methodological quality and evidence of specific training effects on optimized training. Objectives: This study investigated whether differences exist in the duration for optimal post-preload stimulus measures on performance in male and female team sport athletes. Methods: Twenty-four participants (12 males and 12 females) participated in the study. Two familiarization sessions were conducted with each participant. Then, three experimental conditions were implemented, incorporating a standardized warm-up, followed by back squats (conditioning exercises) and varying passive recovery times of 4 min (PAP4), 8 min (PAP8), or 12 min (PAP12).
