This survey-correlational research aimed to determine the levels of readability of the grade eight English manual, reading skills, which constitute vocabulary and fluency, and the students_ reading comprehension of the grade eight students. The _standard_ readability level of the grade 8 learners_ module indicates that the literary pieces and readings included in it are comprehensible. Grade 8 students are proficient readers; they have the skill in vocabulary and fluency. They can pronounce most of the words with accuracy and understand most of the English words and even give meaning to them. The level of reading comprehension of the grade 8 students is developing. The significant difference on the students_ reading skills in terms of age, monthly family income, fathers_ educational attainment and mothers_ educational attainment indicate that these factors affect the gaining of the students of their reading skills except when classified into sex.
