1 | 2019 Article | Essential elements of children Ilyani Mohd Rosmadi It is a very concerning situation we are having today when seeing youngsters showing less involvement and not being helpful toward the ones in need. Having children to be exposed to storybooks is to introduce them with moral values that help in building their characters. Storybooks are developed containing pedagogies adapted from the Quran that convey the value of prosocial behaviour effectively. The pedagogies are narrative, dialogue, repetition and questioning. Typography, illustrations and simplified phrases are additional elements that are also included. This research involved 60 children aged 5 to 6 years old from selected preschools in Malaysia. 30 children are presented with the original version of the storybooks and the rest are presented with modified storybooks. Modified Prosocial Behaviour Questionnaire which consists of 15 items is required to be filled during pre and post-test. 2 | 2020 Thesis | Pedagogical elements of childrens story books based on Al-Quran to cultivate prosocial behaviour among preschool children Ilyani Mohd Rosmadi The aim of this research is to improve on the published Islamic story books which
includes pedagogical elements from the Quran and characteristics of a children’s story
book for the implementation of prosocial behaviour among preschool children. The
determined pedagogies are narrative, dialogue, repetition and questioning.
Typography, illustrations and simplified phrases are characteristics that are also
included. Also, this study lays out proper guidelines for implementing the improved
story books in a classroom setting. The guidelines are based on the shared reading
method which is the dialogic reading and also on feed backs from teachers after the
pilot test was conducted. This study is conducted based on the ADDIE model. To
know the effect of the improved Islamic story books on children’s prosocial behaviour,
the Modified Prosocial Behaviour Questionnaire comprising of 15 items was
