Kesan penggunaan modul kecerdasan naturalis terhadap pencapaian biologi di kalangan pelajar tingkatan empat
Ismail Mohamed Nor
The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of a teaching and learning module which applies Naturalist Intelligence (NI module) for the topic microorganisms on form four Biology students’ achievement. This is a 2 X 2 factorial Quasi experiment method. Two aspects being compared are students’ gender and Biology teaching method. NI module used was developed based on Dick & Carey (1985) instructional model. This module was used as an intervention on 30 Biology students from the experimental group while another 30 students from the control group followed the conventional teaching and learning method. Two types of instruments being used in this study were Naturalist Intelligence (NI) checklist and Biology achievement post-test. Both instruments show a Cronbach alfa reliabilities of 0.72 and 0.73 respectively. NI checklist used was to determine the NI score and NI level in both of student groups. Biology achievement test was to determine the Biology achievement. Data obtained.....

Influence of polyethylene glycol on the properties of TiO2 films by Squeegee method
M.F. Malek, A.S. Ismail, M.M. Yusoff, R. Mohamed, M.K. Ahmad, M. Rusop,
An extremely easy method is presented for producing TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) films as photoanode in dye-sensitized solar cell applications. This paper presents the study on the effect of Polyethylene glycol 20000 (PEG 20000) on the properties of TiO2 NPs films. The amount of PEG 20000 were varied between 0.1 and 0.5 g. Sonication and stirring of commercial TiO2 NPs Degussa P25 and PEG 20000 in ethanol results in highly homogeneous dispersions which are used to prepare TiO2 films. The use of optimum amount of PEG 20000 will increase the light absorption due to the increment of the surface area within the film. The films were characterised using ultraviolet-visible-near infrared spectrometer, field emission scanning electron microscopy and current-voltage measurement...

An improved version of Rivaie-Mohd-Ismail-Leong conjugate gradient method with application in image restoration
Nurul Akmal binti Mohamed
This paper focuses on modifying the existing Conjugate Gradient (CG) method of Rivaie, Mustafa, Ismail and Leong (RMIL). The RMIL technique has been the subject of previous studies to enhance its effectiveness. In this study, a new CG search direction, IRMIL, has been presented. This new variation combines the scaled negative gradient, which acts as an initial direction, and a third-term parameter. This paper proves that the IRMIL satisfies the sufficient descent criteria. The method also exhibits global convergence characteristics for exact and strong Wolfe line searches. The methods efficacy is assessed using two distinct methodologies. The first methodology involved conducting numerical tests on conventional Unconstrained Optimisation (UO) problems. The test shows that, while the IRMIL method performs very similarly to other existing CG methods during exact line search, it excels during strong Wolfe line search and converges more quickly. For the second methodology, the NEWMRIL meth.....

Impact of repeated reading strategy on reading fluency of Malaysian lower secondary school students
Hasimah Ja'afar
The Impact of Repeated Reading Strategy on the Reading Fluency of Malaysian Lower Secondary School Students. Hasimah Ja'afar, 2015: Applied Dissertation, Nova Southeastern University, Abraham S. Fischler College of Education. ERIC Descriptors: Directed Reading Activity, Reading Fluency, Accuracy, Decoding (Reading), Word Recognition This applied dissertation was designed to investigate the impact of repeated reading on the reading fluency of Malaysian lower secondary school students using curriculumbased measurement (CBM), also known as the oral reading fluency (ORF)procedure (Deno, 1985,2003). The CBM (Deno, 2003) was used to establish the participants' reading accuracy and automaticity in word decoding. The Multi-Dimensional Fluency Rubric (Rasinski, 2004b) was used to assess the participants' reading prosody, and the Reading Evaluation and Decoding System test (Mohamed, Eng, & Ismail, 2010) was used to assess the participants' reading comprehension ability. An analysis of the data r.....
