This study investigates the influence of transformational leadership and knowledge leadership of principals on the motivation of private school teachers in South Kalimantan, Indonesia. A quantitative approach was used in this study, using a survey method and a questionnaire. The samples were selected using stratified and simple random sampling involving 335 teachers in 13 regions. Furthermore, data were analyzed through descriptive and regression analysis. The results of the study showed that the level of transformational leadership of principals was high (mean=4.39, standard deviation=0.61), the level of knowledge leadership of principals was also high (mean=4.43, standard deviation=0.61), as well as the level of intrinsic motivation of teachers (mean=4.41, standard deviation=0.55) and the level of extrinsic motivation of teachers (mean=4.37, standard deviation=0.59).
