The influence of resilience on psychological well-being of Malaysian university undergraduates
Izazol Idris
Psychological well-being is fundamental to the overall health of undergraduates, particularly to enable them to address challenges at the university. A review of related literature showed that there are various factors influencing individual’s psychological well-being. The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of resilience on the psychological well-being of university undergraduates. For this purpose, a total of 200 undergraduates from local public universities (male = 90, female = 110) participated in this exploratory study. Responses were analysed using Smart PLS 3.0 to model the influence of the two variables. Results demonstrated two significant findings. Firstly, reliable and valid adapted instruments measuring resilience and psychological well-being were established, and secondly, resilience is a significant predictor and it explained 48.2% variance in psychological well-being. The findings are discussed in relation to the development of a model that relates th.....

Improving Psychological Well-being Among Undergraduates: How Creativity in Learning Can Contribute?
Izazol binti Idris
Psychological well-being (PWB) is considered an important variable since it correlates with many other important variables, particularly in mental health. Nevertheless, studies on PWB among university undergraduates are limited. This in turn, limits our ability to provide interventions to increase their PWB. As such, the purpose of this study is to assess levels of psychological well-being among undergraduates and to suggest how creativity can contribute to the enhancement of PWB. We also assessed PWB of the undergraduates with regards to gender and years of study. A total of 1965 undergraduates from seven local public universities participated in this cross-sectional survey study. Responses from the Flourishing Scale was used to assess the levels of PWB as well as comparing the mean score of the undergraduates’ PWB in terms of gender and years of study. Results showed that 256 undergraduates fall under the low and moderate low levels, with the majority of them are from the first yea.....

The purpose of this study is to explore the teaching approaches that are appropriate for juveniles so that they can gain knowledge and skills in line with current demands and develop their potential. A qualitative approach was employed, specifically a constructivist grounded theory research design, involving 15 teachers and three administrators from the three rehabilitation schools. To ensure an in-depth exploration of these issues, data was collected using semi-structured interviews. Observations were also carried out in order to support the interview data and to give a full picture from various perspectives. The findings showed that the teachers practiced various teaching approaches that were appropriate for the conditions and problems of the juveniles at the schools, as detailed in this article. Additionally, the results also revealed that teachers need to choose appropriate teaching approaches to ensure that effective learning can be provided to juveniles, who on average do not hav.....

Effective learning is crucial for helping young people gain knowledge, skills, and overall development. This study aims to identify key factors necessary for effective learning in rehabilitation schools for juveniles. A constructivist grounded theory (CGT) approach was employed to gain a deeper understanding. Fifteen teachers, three administrators, and five education experts participated in the study using purposive sampling. Data was collected via in-depth interviews with these participants. The thematic analysis revealed four main themes essential for effective learning among juveniles: teachers (qualifications, teaching methods, and attitudes), juveniles (emotions and interest in learning), rehabilitation schools (administrator support and learning facilities), and community (support from families and assistance from governmental and non-governmental organizations). This research highlights the elements that all stakeholders need to address to ensure effective learning for juveniles.....
