AbstractThis research project investigated the aesthetic of sense of place throughcultural identity in modern urban space of Yangzhou. This study aims to identify the cultural elements that form the basic design of urban space that are capable of creatingaunique memory value and sense of belonging. Key elements of the researchproject include the designs and features of landmarks buildings, bridges and interior spacewhich has a significant environmental impact in shaping spatial identity. Thekeyartists involved in this research are Wu Guanzhong_Julie Mehretu_Seth Armstrong, Anne Desmet, Gu Zhijun, Wen Zhongyan_Carmen Smith, Peter Doig and AndrewSoria.
