On Job Training (OJT) (organisation) assessment rubric is widely considered instrumental in assessing Diploma in Construction Technology students with required competencies to function effectively in the work environment. OJT remains predominantly process-focused with little attention to the criteria in OJT (organisation) assessment rubric. The aim of this study is to develop constructs and elements for OJT (organisation) assessment rubric. The research design for this study is a survey that was carried out qualitatively through document analysis to identify the constructs and elements in the OJT (organisation) assessment rubric. From meta data analysis, 110 elements are identified to be the constructs and elements in OJT (organisation) assessment rubric. After the expert validation process using questionnaire form as an instrument, only 75 elements are valid to be included in the OJT (organisation) assessment rubric while 35 elements discarded. 2 | 2019 article | The soft skill elements in an on-job training (OJT) (Organisation) assessment rubric for construction technology students in Malaysian Vocational Colleges Mohd Firdaus Bin Mustaffa Kamal During on-Job Training (OJT), students are assessed by using the OJT (Organisation) assessment rubric. However, soft skill elements in the current assessment rubric are quite general in assessing students according to the job scope for Diploma in Construction Technology. The items in the current assessment rubric are not specific to assess soft skills of site supervisors which are important in the construction industry. Therefore, this study aims to identify the soft skill elements for OJT (Organisation) assessment rubric for Construction Technology students. 3 | 2019 article | Malaysian carbon reduction and environmental sustainability tool (MyCREST) qualified Mohd Firdaus Mustaffa Kamal In assessing the green building application, Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) has introduced the Malaysian Carbon Reduction and Environmental Sustainability Tool (MyCREST) which will be fully implemented for government project starting in the year 2018. In order to spread the awareness of MyCREST implementation and train the MyCREST assessor, and TVET workforce, CIDB has conducted series of MyCREST training every year. This research aims to investigate the overall performance of MyCREST training through the training objective assessment method. This research was carried out during the MyCREST in-house training by CIDB involving 33 trainees from all over Malaysia. A questionnaire survey has been developed for this research, and the data has been analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis. 4 | 2021 article | Issues and trends of the technical, building and engineering drawing subject in the Malaysian Vocational College Mohd Firdaus Mustaffa Kamal The purpose of this study is to investigate the current practice in the vocational colleges that contributes to the issues found within the technical, building and engineering drawing subjects. The objective is to identify the effects of the current practice of these subjects’ on the issues identified through the literature study. This study adopted exploratory design, and literature analysis and interview were conducted for data collection. Through the literature analysis, the common issues found within the subjects were highlighted. Then these issues were posted to selected teachers for further discussion. The teachers were selected based on their expertise and years of experience. Through the interview session, feedbacks from the teachers were obtained pertaining to their current practice which directly shed light on the issues being faced. 5 | 2023 article | Identification of cooperative learning component in designing lesson plan for building drawing subject in vocational colleges Mohd Firdaus Mustaffa Kamal Cooperative learning is a student-centered learning technique that can be considered a learning strategy for improving student performance both intellectually and in soft skill acquisition. Changes in curriculum structure in vocational institutions, because of the TVET transformation in 2012, have had an unforeseen influence on teaching and learning, whereas in the prior framework, a detailed teaching guideline was supplied compared to the latest structure. Teachers with inadequate knowledge and experience in learning strategies struggled to execute the new curriculum structure due to the lack of depth in these recent curriculum structure. This may be seen in the case of construction drawing subjects, where there were originally 14 main topics but now there are just four. The TVET institution actively creates a skilled workforce to meet the needs of the nation's labour market to meet those demands. As a result, efforts are being made to improve the existing TVET institutions. This study looked into the difficulties faced by TVET institution managers when handling their relationships with collaboration. The quantitative approach used in this study was the survey design approach. The right respondents are chosen for this study using purposeful sampling techniques. A total of 53 directors of TVET institutions in Malaysia and 30 representatives from industry were chosen as respondents for this study. The Rasch measurement model was used to analyze the data.
