Mobile usage, shopping behaviour and study habit as contributing factors to depression, anxiety and stress

The scenarios of students’ psychological breakdown have been more prevalent nowadays. Thus, this study aimed to investigate the effect of particular factors of behavioural aspects namely mobile usage, shopping behaviour and study habit, on negative emotional states specifically depression, anxiety and stress among university students. The study employed survey design in which faculties and departments in Sultan Idris Education University were stratified and purposive sampling were employed to obtain a total of 377 students as respondents of the study. Respondents’ age ranged between 18 to 27 years old and most of them are females. The research instrument consisting of a questionnaire packet of Mobile Phone Involvement Questionnaire (MPIQ), Buying Impulsiveness Scale, Study Habits Questionnaire and Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS-21).
