1 | 2019 article | Exploration of the factors in treatment adherence to coronary heart diseases diagnosis among the multi-ethnic patients: a qualitative study Nor Firdous Mohamed Coronary heart disease (CHD) is the leading cause of death in Malaysia. This study aims to explore the treatment experiences of patients with recurrent coronary heart disease during hospital admission and after discharge. This research also attempts to understand patients’ adherence to the prescribed treatment.
Method: The main sample for this study includes inpatients and outpatients with recurrent CHD who have undergone secondary prevention treatment at certain tertiary hospitals which were purposively sampled. The transcripts of one-to-one semi-structured interviews (N=22) were analyzed using the Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA).
Results: Three themes emerged in the analysis of treatment adherence among multi-ethnic patients with CHD: (i) doctor-patient relationships; (ii) information-seeking behaviour; and (iii) psychosocial beliefs. 2 | 2020 article | Critical factors in quality of life: a qualitative explorations into the experiences of Malaysian with heart failure Nor Firdous Mohamed Heart failure (HF) prevalence is increasing in Malaysia and brings about significant poor outcomes specially on the patients’ wellbeing. Despite the devastating physical symptoms of HF experienced by patients, other social consequences on patients are often not discussed by their health care professionals. Hence, this qualitative study aims to explore and understand the quality of life (QOL) for patients in Malaysia of various ethnicity who have been diagnosed with heart failure. Methods: Nineteen (n = 19) patients with recurrent HF were recruited via purposive sampling. One-to-one semi-structured interviews were conducted after patients’ informed consent was obtained. 3 | 2021 article | The relationship between medication adherence and health-related quality of life among Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) patients Nor Firdous Mohamed This study aimed to investigate the relationship between medication adherence and health-related quality of life among Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) patients. A correlational survey design was used in this study. The study was conducted through assisted questionnaire administration via face to face with 188 T2DM patients. The questionnaire used was the Medication Compliance Questionnaire (MCQ) and Diabetes Quality of Life revised version (DQoL-R). Descriptive analysis, Crosstabs analysis and Chi-Square test was used to run the data of this study. Result shows the average age of the participants were 64.60 years old and a significant relationship was found between medication adherences with the domain Worry in diabetes quality of life. In conclusion, this study may provide a significant finding on quality of life factors which also need to be appropriately intervene in order to improve medication adherence among type 2 diabetes patients in Malaysian health care.

4 | 2021 article | The screening of self-care behaviour among Chinese ethnic with heart failure in Malaysia Nor Firdous Mohamed This study aimed to determine the level of self-care behaviour among the Chinese ethnic with Heart Failure (HF) in Malaysia. A cross-sectional survey design was conducted with HF patients (N=80). The average age of participants was 61.39 years old (M = 61.39, SD = 15.88). Chinese version of Self-care Heart Failure Index version 6.2 were used in this study. Descriptive analysis such as mean and standard deviation were used to run the analysis. Current findings suggested that the self-care behaviour of Chinese ethnic HF patients in Malaysia is satisfactory adequate, with both self-care management and self-care confident having standardised scores of greater than 70. The studied population scored highest in self-care confidence. Hence, it is suggested that element of confidence is one of the important factors to be considered in future self-care interventions.

5 | 2021 article | The psychosocial determinants relationship with burnout among nurses in Pahang, Malaysia Nor Firdous Mohamed The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between psychosocial determinant such as demographic factors, nursing stress, and perceived social support with burnout status among nurses in Pahang. This is a quantitative study using a convenience sampling of nurses (N=404) from all sectors of hospitals and clinics in Pahang, Malaysia. Participated nurses administered demographic information questionnaire and three other different instruments which are Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), Nursing Stress Scale (NSS), and Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS). adherence to medications remains the main issue in achieving optimal treatment
outcomes. This study was conducted to explore the psychosocial relationships model
on medication adherence among patients with CHD in Malaysia. The study involved
the sequential mixed method design; Firstly, it explores the – psychosocial factors
associated with medication adherence through a qualitative interview on the CHD
patient’s treatment experiences (N=22, 88% males) as well as their family caregivers
(N=15). Secondly, questionnaires based on the qualitative findings were developed
and validated; and finally, the relationships between the psychosocial factors with

7 | 2023 article | The prevalence of internet gaming disorders and the associated psychosocial risk factors among adolescents in Malaysian secondary schools Nor Firdous Mohamed Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD) has been placed under the conditions for further study segment in DSM-5. The purpose of the current study was to develop a preliminary psychosocial model as a reference for providing appropriate intervention, particularly for adolescents with IGD. A total of 5290 adolescents from secondary schools in seven states in Malaysia were recruited by using proportionate random sampling. A standardized set of validated questionnaires such as DASS-21, BIS-11, and IGDS9-SF were distributed to participants that fulfilled the inclusion criteria. The prevalence of IGD among Malaysian adolescents was 3.5%. The bivariate analysis summarized that factors such as stress, impulsivity, gender, time spent using the internet, and relationship with parents and friends; have statistically significant associations with IGD. The present study utilizes a stratified random sampling to examine the role of perceived social support on psychological wellbeing between depressed and non-depressed university students during the COVID-19 pandemic in Malaysia. This study recruited a total of 244 university students from different universities across Malaysia from November 2021 to July 2022 through social media such as Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. A prevalence rate of 50.4% of university students was found to present significant depressive symptoms. There is a significant correlation between perceived social support and psychological wellbeing (r = 0.769, p < 0.05).
