Speaking difficulties of Philippine indigenous learners in English phonology

This study aimed to investigate Philippine indigenous learners’ speaking difficulties in English Semantics.The objectives was to identify indicators of poor vocabulary, processing and expressing of information. It was a qualitative research through case studies of five Grade 2 Indigenous Peoples (IP) learners in Echague, Isabela, Philippines. Data collection was done through observation and oral assessments activities. Instruments include checklist of speaking difficulties signified by inadequacy in English vocabulary; and constructed oral assessment activities in English. Data gathered were qualitatively analysed. Findings revealed that all the five indigenous learner-participants demonstrated English vocabulary deficiency to name depicted objects in the surroundings. They had struggles in reciting week-days, months and in citing common Philippine events. They had difficulty in conveying illustrated antonyms and synonyms. The purpose of this study is to investigate the social and communication skills difficulties among identified learners with ASD in the Philippines.Objectives of the study are to identify what are the social and communication characteristics of the children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and to identify the effect of their social and communication difficulties in the learning process. The case study was conducted at Jose Fabella Memorial School (JFMS), Mandaluyong City, Philippines and participants were selected purposively involving six learners with ADS, their parents and their teachers. The data collection period is for five months. Emphasizing only on intellectual intelligence without stressing on feelings and emotions could negatively affect an individual’s emotional development. Development of stable emotion regulation strategies is important for an individual to function appropriately in different contexts. Although there are many scales developed to measure emotional intelligence (EI), there is a dearth of instruments to measure EI in preschool children. One instrument that taps EI in preschool children is The Sullivan Emotional Intelligent Scale for Children (EISC). EISC was developed for use in the United States and there is no such instrument available in Malaysian context (to the best of our knowledge).The aim of the current study was to adapt EISC to measure Malaysian preschool children’s emotional intelligence. This study aims to describe the process of the development of a creative drama module that could be used as tool for the socialization of learners with autism. Objectives of the study are to identify common socialization deficits of learners with ASD and to develop a module using drama activities.This descriptive study is conducted to investigate how drama activities could be used as tool to help learners with autism engage in social interaction. Data were collected through interviews,observations, and checklist analysis. Reliability of module emotional intelligence for children: building positive emotions of Malaysian children

Children who have a good level of emotional intelligence will be able to manage their lives in a more orderly and harmonious. Good emotional control is a very important aspect in the well-being of individuals. This study aims to identify the reliability of emotional intelligence module (EQ) in building positive emotion in preschool children. The samples involved a total of 100 preschool children aged four to six years in Terengganu, Malaysia. The analysis used was Rasch Model analysis to see the reliability level of Emotional Intelligence Module (KE) in building positive emotions of children. The findings show that the module is used to record a good level of reliability which is the reliability of the (person) is 0.74 and reliability of the item is 0.89. The effects of AAC (augmentative and alternative communication) intervention on social communication skills for children with learning disabilities

Most children with learning disabilities faced problem in social communication skill and its really affects their life and learning process in school. To enhance social communication skill, an effective intervention should be applied to them. This case study was conducted to confirm that AAC (augmentative and alternative communication) is an effective way in enhancing social communication skill among children with learning disabilities. The objective of this study were to identify the impact of using AAC in verbal and nonverbal communication and skill in social interaction. Respondents consisted of 30 children with learning disabilities, aged eight to twelve years, from three primary school in Perak. Observation were done in teaching and learning process in the classroom which took about 40 minutes for each session. Data collection were conducting through observations.
