1 | 2024 Article | Assessment of Variability of Essential Oil Components in the Genus Lindera (Lauraceae) by Multivariate Analysis Nur Nabilah Mohd Zaini Essential oils hold tremendous medicinal attributes and are greatly exploited industrially worldwide. Lindera is an important genus of the Lauraceae family of plants which are known for their medicinal values. In the present study, eleven studies reported on Lindera essential oils were selected and reviewed. Then the variability of essential oil components in the genus Lindera were assessed by multivariate analysis. The chemical analysis enabled the identification of qualitative and quantitative differences among the essential oils. The essential oils were characterized by high proportions of germacrene B, spathulenol, nerolidol, ?-caryophyllene, dihydromyrcene, furanosesquiterpenoid, sesquithuriferol, and linalool. Then, the differences in the chemical profiles of the essential oil were confirmed by the multivariate statistical analysis, which was determined via principal component analysis (PCA) and hierarchical clustering analysis (HCA). The analysis classified the Lindera species i..... 557 hits |
2 | 2024 Article | A review on chemical constituents and pharmacological action of the genus Lindera (Lauraceae Nur Nabilah Mohd Zaini The genus Lindera consists of approximately 100 species that are widely distributed in tropical and subtropical areas throughout the world. It is represented by widely well-known medicinal and aromatic plants that produce various phytochemicals with potential pharmacological actions. This review attempts to summarize the information on the phytochemicals of Lindera species together with their biological properties. The data and information were collected via an electronic search engine which are Scopus, ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, PubMed, and SciFinder. Sesquiterpenes represent the major chemical compounds that have been characterised in Lindera species, as well as alkaloids, flavonoids, and phenolics. These compounds were shown to possess anticancer, antifibrotic, anti-inflammatory, antitumor, antioxidant, anti-arthritic, cytotoxic, antiallergic, and antihyperlipidemic properties. The outcome of these studies will further support the therapeutic potential of the genus Lindera and p..... 286 hits |
3 | 2024 Thesis | Phytochemistry and biological activities of Lindera subumbelliflora Kosterm and Lindera caesia Reinw. ex Fern.-Vill Nur Nabilah Mohd Zaini The purpose of this study was to investigate the essential oils, phytochemicals, and biological activities of Lindera subumbellifora and Lindera caesia (Lauraceae). The essential oils were obtained from the leaves part using hydrodistillation technique and their chemical compositions were determined using gas chromatography (GC-FID) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) methods. Cold extraction of the leaves and roots of L. subumbellifora was employed followed by isolation of phytochemicals using gravity column chromatography techniques. The chemical structures of phytochemicals were confirmed by comparison with literature and spectroscopic data. The antioxidant and antibiofilm activities were investigated using DPPH free radical scavenging and semi-quantitative static biofilm assay, respectively. A total of 28 components (99.6%) were successfully identified from the leaf oil of L. subumbelliflora which mainly consisted of _-eudesmol (14.6%), cis-_-bergamotene (11.0%), _-cop..... 8 hits |
