| 1 | 2012 Article | Kurikulum pelajaran vernakular Melayu di Tanah Melayu pada zaman kolonial British sehingga perang dunia kedua Ariffin Khairi, Saadon Ramli, Ali Ismail, Pelajaran vernakular diperkenalkan oleh kolonial British untuk memberi pengetahuan kepada anak-anak orang Melayu supaya mereka boleh membaca dan memahami arahan. Sekolah-sekolah vernakular yang diperkenalkan hanya bertujuan menyedarkan orang Melayu tentang kebolehan membaca, menulis dan mengira. Tahap pelajarannya hanya di peringkat rendah sahaja. Kemudahan yang ada di sekolah-sekolah yang dibina di kampung-kampung amat kurang dan hanya sebagai memenuhi tanggungjawab sosial kolonial British. Kurikulum yang dilaksanakan juga amat rendah tahap akademiknya. Mata pelajaran yang diajar di sekolah rendah berkenaan tidak mempunyai hala tuju untuk meningkatkan taraf akademik anak-anak Melayu ke peringkat sekolah menengah kerana pelajaran vernakular berkenaan terhenti di peringkat rendah. Kebanyakan mereka yang tamat belajar hanya layak memegang jawatan paling rendah dalam pentadbiran kerajaan kolonial. Pendidikan orang Melayu sebelum kolonial British adalah sangat kuat terikat dengan corak pendidikan tradisional yang berpegang teguh kepada konsep pendidikan yang berbentuk sosialisasi dan pendidikan keagamaan yang menekankan ajaran Islam. Penghasilan artikel ini adalah untuk melihat perkembangan pendidikan dalam kalangan orang Melayu di Tanah Melayu yang terbahagi kepada pendidikan informal, pengajian agama, sekolah pondok dan pengajian madrasah. Kajian ini adalah olahan dan nilaian hasil daripada rujukan sumber dokumen primer dan sekunder dari Arkib Negara Malaysia dan Perpustakaan Universiti Awam Malaysia. | 3 | 2019 Article | Innovative teaching for beginners history teacher in driving high order thinking skills (HOTS) in primary and secondary schools Ramli Saadon This study aims to research the use of historical resources that can help teachers who start teaching history in primary and secondary schools. The objective of this study is the use of citation and the theme of historical events that selected based on historical curriculum in primary and secondary schools. The findings show that among the early history teachers are still tied to the historical subjects as a subjects that required a simple set of knowledge based on facts. Therefore, based on the taxonomy provided, the early history teacher does not have the ability to move historical facts based on estimation, understanding, application, analysis, assessment and event invent. Therefore, a historical curriculum that emphasizes five historical thinking skills will not be able to achieve the High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS).
