This research aims to study the role of Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat palace, formal educational institutions, and non-formal education institutions in inheritance Yogyakarta Classical Dance Style (TKGY). It is viewed from the process and the method of inheritance as well as aesthetic value which become the contribution of the institution in inheritance of (TKGY). 2 | 2017 Article | Development phase of traditional dance in the state of Perak, Malaysia: a literature review Muhammad Fazli Taib Saearani This paper aims to review literature regarding the development phase of traditional dance in the state of Perak, Malaysia. This development phase will be looked into by reviewing Perak’s history, with a focus on the art of Malay traditional dance. Based on this literature review, it is found that there is difficulty in finding reference materials on the traditional dance of Perak as there is a lack of documentation. Parts of the literature being reviewed include (i) the history of Perak, (ii) culture in general, (iii) traditional arts in Perak, and (iv) traditional dance in Perak. Each topic is discussed, exploring the existence of the art of traditional dance in Perak that brought about cultural symbols in each area of the state. 6 | 2021 Article | Pedagogical Competency of Dance Instructors in The Training of Malay Court Dance Skills Among Upper Secondary Students at Johor National Art School Muhammad Fazli Taib bin Saearani Dance pedagogy is a complex and dynamic field of competency that involves various skills and self-appearance. Therefore, dance instructors must widen the scope of their competency to strengthen and improve their level. This research aimed to identify the competency of dance instructors teaching the practical subject of Malay Court Dance based on factors including the components of pedagogy, curriculum, assessment, and professionalism. The data was collected from interviews with the instructors and was analyzed through thematic analysis. The findings indicated that the instructors’ competency level development could be mapped into three dimensions, namely orientation, agent, and competency content. dibangunkan oleh pengkaji. Sebanyak tiga buah modul mengandungi 1) kebebasan pengucapan idea dan
perasaan menerusi aktiviti olahan ekspresi tubuh, 2) ritma menerusi aktiviti pergerakan berirama
dan 3) daya cipta kreatif menerusi aktiviti eksplorasi pergerakan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan
terdapat kelebihan dan kekurangan daripada modul tersebut yang boleh dijadikan penambahbaikan untuk
mengukuhkan lagi pengisian maklumat yang dibina. Bagi pelajar yang terlibat, masing-masing dapat
rnengikuti aktiviti dengan memberikan kemunculan kegembiraan, keunikan potensi gerak yang sangat
kreatif seterusnya memantapkan jati diri mereka. Dapatan kajian mencadangkan bahawa aktiviti
pergerakan kreatif patut dibangunkan pada sistem pendidikan masa kini tidak kira dalam rnodul
akademik mahupun ko-kurikulum bagi mewarnai daya imaginasi kreatif keintelektualan pelajar yang dinamik.

8 | 2024 Article | Developing Malay traditional dance model for preschoolers: Evidence from contextual and content needs Azizah Binti Zain, Siti Nor Amalina binti Ahmad Tajuddin, Abdul Halim bin Masnan, Muhammad Fazli Taib bin Saearani The uniqueness of the Malay dance community should be introduced to children, so that the beauty of the dance movements will be preserved. Therefore, this study examined preschoolers' content and the contextual needs of developing the traditional Malay dance model. Quantitative studies using this survey method aim to obtain information about the context and content of traditional Malay dance models. The utilized tool was a validated questionnaire that had undergone expert validation and piloting. 125 Malaysian Ministry of Education (MOE) preschool teachers were selected as the study sample based on their experience and qualifications in Early Childhood Education. The data collected were analyzed with descriptive statistics using SPSS version 26. The findings indicate that the necessities of the context should inhibit the aspects of creative movement. 9 | 2024 Article | The Acculturation of Malay-Islamic Elements in the Dabus Dance Ritual in the Malay Community of Perak, Malaysia Abdul Hamid Chan, Muhammad Fazli Taib Saearani, Salman Alfarisi The main objective of this study is to examine the Islamic and Malay elements that are acculturated in the Dabus dance ritual of Perak, Malaysia. The focused group of this study is the Dabus of Tanjung Bidara village, estimated to have been established since the 1818s. However, throughout that time, the perception of the Malay community has not been strong yet, specifically regarding the ritual relationship of the Dabus dance with Islamic values. In fact, not infrequently, Dabus dance rituals are seen as contradicting the values of Islam itself. It is even seen over as skewed by some of the Malay community. However, in terms of history, meaning, practice, and ritual function, the Dabus dance itself cannot be separated from Islam. The study was designed as a field study. However, the Covid-19 pandemic has undeniably changed pedagogical methodologies, forcing this course to be conducted online via the medium of technology. Therefore, this paper explains the challenges and advantages of the synchronous and asynchronous video conferencing mixed strategies in the teaching and creative movement course. The setting in this research is a semester of the teaching and learning conducted at a university in Malaysia using the Google Meet application and video.
