Recently, Professional Learning Community (PLC) has become an important discussion topic in the field of education. Thus, many educational institutions, especially schools, have sought to implement the practice of PLC with the hope of improving student learning. This hope is to be achieved through teaching and learning activities which are carried out collaboratively among school communities, especially teachers. In fact, they must respond to the activities undertaken to ensure there is improvement in student learning and achievement. Moreover, to ensure that schools practice PLC, the researchers have listed five main characteristics of PLC, namely: shared values and visions, collaborative culture, focus on outcomes to improve student learning, leadership support and shared personal practice. This article analyzes differences in the operation of school excellence practices in two types of the high achievement schools in Malaysia i.e. boarding schools and religious schools. In particular, this study aims to identify the differences between in the excellence school practices and school leadership in the two types of the high achievement schools. To achieve the research objectives, data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 180 boarding school teachers and 180 religious school teachers by applying the survey method. The questionnaire that was developed by Muhammad Faizal A. Ghani (2008) was used as this study’s instrument. The instrument addresses the following seven dimensions as contributing factors to the effectiveness of the schools i.e. professional leadership, conducive school environment, concentrate of teaching and learning, high expectations, continuous assessment, collaboration and cooperation between school and home, and the school as a learning org.....

Fuzzy Delphi Method (FDM) : evaluation on consensus of usability for model of activities using traditional Malay childrens song for enhancement of creative-imagination among preschoolers

The main purpose of this study is to evaluate the model that has been developed. This evaluation determines the suitability of the model to be used as a guide for preschool educators in raising the children's creative imagination through traditional Malay songs. In order to acquire the agreement value for each phase and their interrelation based on experts’ opinion, the Fuzzy Delphi Method was adopted. A set of questionnaire was administered to a group of 50 experts who are selected based on specified criteria. The defuzzification value obtained by the whole item belongs to the very agree group and extremely agree group. This is because all the items are within the range of 33.6 to 46.8.
