Identifying and assisting at-risk students through counselling interventions will provide better understanding of issues resulting from academic failure at school. This study explored the perspectives and approaches of eight school counsellors with regard to identifying and assisting students considered to be academically and behaviorally at-risk. Their perspectives and approaches are crucial because they reflect the counsellors' understanding and competency to deal with at-risk students. This research project consisted of two studies. 2 | 2017 article | Effects of mental health and trauma counselling module towards the competency of mental health and trauma counselling practices Samsiah Mohd Jais This study aims to examine the effect of Mental Health and Trauma Counselling (MHTC) module toward counsellors’ competency in handling mental health and trauma counselling among school counselling teachers. In addition, this study also examines the effect of MHTC module towards sub constructs’ competencies namely knowledge, skills and awareness based on three demographic aspects that are related to subjects such as sex, age and level of experience of attending MHTC workshop. Quasi-experimental pre-test and post-test treatment group design was used in this study. The sample consists of 48 high school counselling teachers (14 males and 34 females) selected using purposive sampling within Selangor and Perak. Mental Health and Trauma Counselling Skills Instruments (MHTCSI) which contains three sub constructs competencies namely knowledge, skills and awareness are used in this study. 5 | 2019 article | Reliability of post traumatic growth module for domestic violence survivors Samsiah mohd jais The purpose of this study is to obtain the reliability of Post Traumatic Growth Counseling module (PTGC). The PTGC module contains five training modules namely Module 1: Introduction to Post Traumatic Development; Module 2: Introduction of Domestic Violence; Module 3: Symptoms and Effects of Domestic Violence; Module 4: Intervention of Domestic Violence; and Module 5: Self Care which include eleven activities. The value of reliability is obtained through a written response from a group of subjects among counselors of three different settings. To measure the reliability of a total of 78 counselors were selected from three different settings, namely, the Sultan Idris Education University, the Ministry of Health Malaysia and private institutions in Malaysia. The results show that the PTGC module has a high reliability value of the overall KPPT module of .973.
