The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of PolySOM mobile application on students’ achievement in the strength of materials subject at the premier polytechnics in Malaysia. The main research design used in this study was a quasi-experimental design. The PolySOM mobile application was developed on Android platform using ADDIE model. The population of the study consisted of all third-semester mechanical engineering students at the premier polytechnics. A random sample of 43 students was assigned to an experimental group and 33 students were randomly assigned to a control group. In developing the PolySOM mobile application, the learning styles of the students were identified using VAK learning style model. The treatment was conducted for the experimental group using PolySOM mobile application for four-week period whereas the control group was given the conventional lectures on the strength of materials subject.
