Effects of Self-Modelling Video Imagery Interventions on Futsal Players Performances

This study aim to investigate the effectiveness of self-modelling video imagery training (delivered using iPod Touch) on open skills among highly competitive futsal players throughout a competition season. Four male futsal players participated in a single-case ABAB study design for four months. Participants’ performances of four skills (passing, receiving, dribbling, shooting), using hand notational video analysis were examined. Self-modelling video imagery training was customized to focus on the two weakest skills for each participant. The results using visual inspection and split middle technique analysis of individual graphs indicated improvement in performance of all targeted skills all participants during the intervention phases (B1, B2) compared to baseline phases (A1, A2). The challenges and psychological skills training experiences of Malaysian elite field hockey players

The main objective of this study was to explore the challenges and psychological skills training (PST) experiences of Malaysian elite hockey players. A qualitative research approach was used to obtain individual experiences and players perspectives on PST program and their experiences and opinion during their participation as national hockey players. Using a semi-structured interview, five main themes emerged from the inductive content analysis: (1) main challenges and experiences related to participants as elite national hockey players; (2) participants opinions regarding their individual psychological needs or requirements; (3) participants opinion regarding PST in hockey; (4) participants perception regarding psychologist or consultant who provides PST to them; and (5) participants experiences with PST program provided as national players. Football is the most popular sport in Indonesia and involves thousands of players and millions of spectators. As the sport continues to grow, it demands an accelerated development of players and adjustments to their needs. However, the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) has created a curriculum that only focuses on the physical, tactical, and technical aspects, ignoring the psychological aspect. This study aimed to investigate the role of psychology in the development of football players in Indonesia, focusing on the weaknesses of the current curriculum. The study was concentrated on the development and psychological characteristics that soccer players under 17 years of age require to maintain their performance into adulthood.
