The double oppression of African American women based on selected novels by Alice Walker

Abstract

This study was conducted with the aim to portray the level in which the African American women were humiliated and dominated by the males, generally, and the whites, particularly, during and after the Civil Right Movement. Three research objectives were formed to achieve the aim. These research objectives were to investigate how the African American women were racially oppressed by the whites, to examine how the black American women suffered from patriarchal oppression by the black men and to examine the impact of racial and patriarchal oppression practiced against the black women. Four selected novels by Alice Walker were analysed to achieve these objectives. The theory employed in this study was the Black Feminist Critical Theory and additionally, this theory was chosen as the conceptual framework to analyse the themes in the selected novels that incorporated black feminist issues with racial matters. Persepsi dan kesediaan pelajar tingkatan 4 terhadap penggunaan aplikasi simulasi PhET bagi topik haba di daerah Kota Belud

Abstract

Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti persepsi pelajar terhadap penggunaan simulasi PhET sebagai medium pengajaran dan pembelajaran Fizik bagi topik haba dan mengenal pasti tahap kesediaan pelajar tingkatan 4 menggunakan aplikasi simulasi PhET. Reka bentuk kajian ini adalah kajian tinjauan dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam kajian ini adalah borang soal selidik. Seramai 113 orang sampel telah dipilih melalui persampelan rawak di daerah Kota Belud, Sabah. Dapatan kajian dianalisis menggunakan analisis deskriptif untuk mendapatkan nilai skor min, sisihan piawai, kekerapan dan peratus. Bagi menilai persepsi pelajar terhadap penggunaan aplikasi simulasi PhET, dua konstruk telah digunakan iaitu reka bentuk dan kandungan (Min=3.32, sisihan piawai=0.59) dan penggunaan dalam PdP (Min=3.29, 0.58) manakala jumlah nilai min tahap kesediaan pelajar terhadap penggunaan aplikasi simulasi PhET ialah 3.03 dan nilai sisihan piawai ialah 0.75. Abstract

Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti sikap pelajar tingkatan empat terhadap fizik dan tahap penguasaan mereka dalam konsep daya dan gerakan. Kajian ini juga menentukan hubungan antara sikap pelajar terhadap fizik dengan tahap penguasaan dalam konsep daya dan gerakan. Reka bentuk kajian adalah penyelidikan perhubungan korelasi. Populasi kajian adalah seramai 96 pelajar tingkatan empat yang mengambil mata pelajaran fizik. 31 sampel yang berjaya dikumpulkan semula. Teknik persampelan adalah teknik persampelan rawak mudah. Soal selidik terdiri daripada dua instrumen iaitu Sikap Terhadap Pembelajaran Fizik (STPF) untuk menentukan sikap pelajar terhadap fizik dan instrumen Force Concept Inventory spm (FCIspm) untuk menentukan tahap penguasaan pelajar dalam konsep daya dan gerakan. Analisis data menggunakan kaedah statistik deskriptif dan ujian korelasi pearson. Data analysis integration computer imported learning: a Microsoft Excel case with statistics

Abstract

The use of ICT in teaching and studying mathematics helps students to develop mathematics. The practice's application, therefore, depends on different considerations, amongst which: teachers' expectations of their ICT teaching skills, instructor attitudes towards teachers in mathematics, teacher attitudes towards ICT contributions to student mathematics awareness. The research was undertaken to assess ICT integration readiness in the classroom in the Paracelis district for mathematics teachers at secondary schools. The thesis used a questionnaire with comments on any of the above variables. This questionnaire was forwarded to 15 mathematics teachers at Paracelis District secondary schools. It shows that ICT teachers' intervention in mathematics has an average limit of 4.06. It also ensures that mathematics teachers are confident and willing to use ICT in mathematics and mathematics instruction.
