Anne Hart Gilbert (re)collecting The Rise & Progress of Religion in Antigua

Abstract

Anne Hart Gilbert (1768-1834) is the first known published African Caribbean woman writer. Her earliest extant piece of writing is an 1804 letter to the Methodist missionary Richard Pattison. This essay analyses Gilbert’s representation of the meanings of African diasporic culture and of Methodist conversion in the letter, a text marked by encounters between and across African and Methodist spiritual cosmologies. Gilbert’s collecting and mediation of local knowledges of religion points to the complexity and nuances of cultural crossing and creolization. Preventing flute playing-related musculoskeletal disorders: applying ergonomic principles in individual and ensemble settings

Abstract

Concerning levels of playing-related musculoskeletal disorders (PRMD) among flute players have been reported over a number of decades. However, recent research indicates that many flute players do not receive sufficient training in injury prevention during their studies. Identifying risks and preventing injuries is central to occupational, health and safety, yet there is little emphasis on this topic in instructional flute books and methods. Improving the ergonomic set-up of musicians is one way of minimising the risk of playing-related injuries occurring. Abstract

Tujuan kajian ini adalah untuk mengenal pasti kesesuaian mata pelajaran Sejarah Tingkatan 2 dalam penerapan kemahiran berfikir aras tinggi dan pemupukan nilai-nilai murni di negeri Selangor. Kesesuaian tajuk-tajuk dalam mata pelajaran Sejarah Tingkatan 2 KSSM dikaji sama ada tajuk tersebut boleh menjana kemahiran berfikir aras tinggi (KBAT), memupuk nilai-nilai murni dan nilai-nilai patriotisme serta semangat perpaduan dan kemahiran abad ke-21 dalam kalangan murid Tingkatan 2. Kesesuaian tajuk-tajuk dalam mata pelajaran ini dinilai berdasarkan persepsi guru mengikut pengalaman mengajar. Reka bentuk kajian kes telah digunakan dalam kajian ini. This research project investigated the aesthetic of sense of place throughcultural identity in modern urban space of Yangzhou. This study aims to identify the cultural elements that form the basic design of urban space that are capable of creatingaunique memory value and sense of belonging. Key elements of the researchproject include the designs and features of landmarks buildings, bridges and interior spacewhich has a significant environmental impact in shaping spatial identity.
