Pragmatic competence and activity-based language teaching: importance of teaching communicative functions in Iraq EFL context.

Abstract

The study attempted to explain the pragmatic competence and the role of teaching pragmatic through using activities-based teaching function of language in EFL context. The study was presented by a public curriculum lead that prioritizes the necessity for English teachers focused on activities when they teach pragmatic aspects in an academic communications. The study aimed to clarify the vital role of activity-based teaching pragmatic on improving students' communicative function of language among Iraqi EFL learners. Besides, most English learners fail to present pragmatic ability on how to use request, apology by relating expressions to their meanings, knowing the intention of language users. Usage of speech act of request among Iraqi male and female undergraduate EFL students

Abstract

The study explained English learners' pragmatics development, learners' pragmatic competence inselected speech act, and usage of request as a one of speech acts that it used in gaining pragmatic ability. The studywas offered by a public curriculum lead that prioritizes the necessity for English students to develop their ability to use request effectively in cultural communication. The study aimed to explain differences in the usage of request among Iraqi male and female undergraduate EFL students. Furthermore, most English students fail to present pragmatic ability on how to use request by relating utterances to their meanings, knowing the intention of language users, and how requests are employed in specific locations. Abstract

Literatur lepas masih belum meneliti secara menyeluruh hubungan serentak antara penglibatan ibu bapa, sikap terhadap matematik dan motivasi pembelajaran dengan pencapaian matematik dalam konteks Malaysia, khususnya dalam kalangan murid luar bandar. Sehubungan itu, kajian ini dijalankan bagi mengenal pasti sama ada motivasi pembelajaran, sikap terhadap matematik dan penglibatan ibu bapa merupakan peramal kepada pencapaian matematik murid tingkatan dua di daerah Mukah, Sarawak. Selain itu, kajian ini turut meneliti peranan motivasi pembelajaran dan sikap terhadap matematik sebagai pemboleh ubah mediator dalam hubungan antara penglibatan ibu bapa dan pencapaian matematik. Kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan reka bentuk tinjauan melibatkan 633 orang murid Tingkatan Dua yang dipilih melalui kaedah persampelan populasi menyeluruh. The Kuomintang background of Jit Sin school board committee and election disputes

Abstract

Jit Sin Public School was founded in 1918 by the Philomatic Union and Hock Teik Cheng Sim Temple of Bukit Mertajam. Both of the orga nisations became t he school board committee which gathered an intertwined network of commerce, temples, politics, and education to gain a foothold in the port. After the dissolution of the Philomatic Union and Kuomintang in 1925, Jit Sin Public School beca me an important reform organization in the city, and the school board committee became an area where various groups competed for power, as illustrated by two disputes over the election of a school board committee. The first election dis pute occurred in 193 8 when the Hock Teik Cheng Sim Temple was responsible for funding the construction of Jit Sin Public School, leading to a controversy over whether the Hock Teik Cheng Sim Temple should increase its number of seats on the school board committee. The second election dispute occurred in 1947, when Huang again manipulated the election, prompting protest.....
