Exploring the impacts of listening to binaural beats music on non-medical depression disorders by using EEG signals
Mohammed Hamada Jasim
Lately, the research on human emotion has attracted the interest of several disciplines, including computer science, cognitive science, and psychology. As such, the aim of study was to examine the effects of binaural beats music on depression disorders. This study was conducted based on an experimental design in which electroencephalography (EEG) was utilized to capture brain signals. The EEGlab toolbox of Matlab was used to extract the relevant features of the brain signals. For feature filtering, brain signals were filtered by using ‘Butterworth 5th order’. EEG signals were then converted from the time to the frequency domain by utilizing Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). A sample of 90 depressive participants was exposed to binaural beats music. One-way ANOVA was used to compare the differences in the effects based on three different time intervals, which were labelled as before listening, during listening, and after listening phases. Descriptive and statistical analysis .....

Identification of common and novel major crab allergens in scylla tranquebarica and the allergen stability in untreated and vinegar-treated crab
Hasan Ali Jasim
Crab allergy is reported as a serious form of food allergy in many countries. This study was aimed to identify the major allergens of the local mud crab, Scylla tranquebarica (S. tranquebarica), and subsequently, determine the effect of vinegar treatments on the crab allergens. Crab muscles were treated with synthetic and natural vinegar. Crab proteins were then extracted from the untreated and vinegar-treated crabs. All extracts were then fractionated by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE), and analyzed by immunoblotting; using sera from crab-allergic patients. The crab proteins were then further fractionated by two-dimensional electrophoresis (2-DE)and analyzed by mass spectrometry (MS). The untreated crab had 38 protein bands, while that was only a few bands between 18 to 73 kDa for the vinegar-treated crabs. Immunoblotting of untreated crab revealed 20 IgE-binding bands, whereas the vinegar-treated crabs could only retain a few IgE-binding bands. Fi.....

Allergenic characterization and biochemical stability of allergens in purple mud crab Scylla tranquabarica
Alsailawi, Hasan Ali Jasim
This study aims to characterize the allergenic properties and determine the biochemical stability of allergens of purple mud crab, Scylla tranquebarica. Raw extracts were  prepared from the muscle tissues of both mixed and specific body parts. Various treated extracts  were prepared from the muscles of mixed body parts. Protein profiles, allergenic proteins and  cross-reactive allergens were then identified by sodium  dodecyl  sulfate-polyacrylamide  gel   electrophoresis  (SDS-PAGE), immunoblotting and immunoblotting inhibition test techniques,  respectively, using sera from crab-allergic patients. The identification of major allergens were  analyzed by mass spectrometry. This study showed that raw mixed part extract contains the most  protein bands and allergenic proteins than the specific body parts and all treated extracts. Five  major allergens were identified at 38, 42, 50, 63 and 73 kDa. Mass spectrometry analysis identified  the 42 and 50 kDa as argi.....

Jasim, Ali Mohammed Hussein
This study aims to investigate the relationships between e-accounting characteristics and the performance of Iraqi SMEs in Baghdad, as well as the mediating effect of the internal control system. The conceptual framework is based on the technology acceptance model (TAM), stewardship, and stakeholder theories. The random sampling technique is utilized to selects the owners of SMEs to participate in the survey. Further, Smart PLS was used to analyse data that were retrieved from 345 questionnaires. Variables of the research include the information quality, cost reduction, fast decisionmaking, and easy-to-use characterize the operational dimension of e-accounting. The findings indicate the information quality is the highest level (M=4.49), followed by easy to use (M=4.19), fast decision making (M=4.18), and cost reduction (M=4.03). The main finding in this study reveals a significant effect of e- accounting characteristics on the performance of SMEs. Furthermore, the e-accounti.....

The female character: a postcolonial feminist perspective of the selected novels by J.M. Coetzee
Suadah Jasim Salih
John Maxwell Coetzee has established himself through his intellectual contribution to the postcolonial feminism literature and South African slavery epoch. His novels can be read as a reflection on Black and white women subjugation in all its complexity, commenting upon many positions typical of radical feminism. From the perspective of the colonizer, the woman was doubly feminized by codes of race and gender. This research aims to investigate the Black and white female Other from the postcolonial feminist perspective of Coetzee’s selected novels namely, Dusklands, In the Heart of the Country, Waiting for the Barbarians, Foe, Age of Iron, and Disgrace. To achieve this objective, the postcolonial feminism theory was applied using discursive strategy as a method for textual analysis to reflect the socio-political scenarios of postcolonial South Africa. The study further reveals how white colonisation subjugated both white and Black females of South Africa resulting in a mora.....

The racial violence and gender oppression: Palestinian womens struggle based on selected novels by Sahar Khalifah
Jasim, Iman Naemah
The main objective of this research was to study racial violence and gender oppression in Sahar Khalifeh’s selected novels of Of Noble Origins (2012), The End of Spring (2007), The Inheritance (2005), The Image, and The Icon and the Covenant (2007). The research also followed a qualitative textual analysis to interpret the colonial confrontation between the Jewish persecutory occupation that represents the colonizers who oppress the Palestinian people, especially the women. Furthermore, gender oppression was interpreted to scrutinize the masculine ideology that marginalizes women in the Palestinian traditional society. Accordingly, three inextricable objectives were formulated in the course of the analysis. The first objective was to ascertain the extent of how the encounter with the Israeli racial violence affects the Palestinian women based on the novels by Sahar Khalifeh. The second objective was to examine how the Palestinian women resist the Jewish occupation in the .....

A social media adoption model for higher educational institutions in Oman using extended technology acceptance model
Al-Qaysi, Noor Jasim Muhi
Social media is fast becoming a medium for encouraging interaction and collaborative learning among learners and instructors. Examining the factors affecting social media adoption in higher education is still in short supply. These factors fluctuate from one study to the other due to variations in characteristics, including settings, participants, and infrastructure. Thus, it can be argued that there is a need for a comprehensive model that could measure the students’ adoption of social media under any situation regardless of the characteristics above. Accordingly, this study develops a social media-based educational framework using the social constructivism theory (SCT). To evaluate the adoption of the developed framework, this study is believed to be the first that develops a comprehensive theoretical model by extending the TAM with the most frequent external factors that achieved significant results in the previous literature. The PLS-SEM is employed to validate the dev.....
