The integration of Islamic stock markets does a problem for investors?

Abstract

This paper empirically investigates co-integration between Islamic stock market in Malaysia, Indonesia and the world by applying the Vector Auto Regression (VAR) method. This research used monthly data from January 2007 to May 2012 taken from authorized sources. The finding shows that there is no long-run or equilibrium relationship exists between FTSE Bursa Malaysia Emas Shariah (FBMES), Jakarta Islamic Index (JAKISL), and Dow Jones Islamic Market index (DJIM). Based on the result, hence, it can be concluded that the Islamic stock markets of Malaysia does not integrate with Indonesia’s, as well as with the world markets in the long run. This will create rooms for investors to diversify their investment portfolios, which puts Malaysia as one of their favoured investment destinations. Abstract

This research will focus on the impact of oil price shocks and macroeconomic variables on Islamic stock market in Malaysia. The objective of this research is to evaluate the relationship between oil price, macroeconomic indicators and Islamic stock market in Malaysia using an estimation of Vector Auto Regression (VAR) method. The variables involved in this research are Crude Oil Price (COP), Industrial Production Index (IPI), Consumer Production Index (CPI), Aggregate Money Supply (M3), Islamic Interbank Rate (IIR), Exchange Rate of Malaysian Ringgit-United States Dollar (MYR) and FTSE Bursa Malaysia Emas Shariah Index (FBMES). Abstract

Kajian deskriptif ini bertujuan membangunkan Modul Bimbingan Kemurungan Tazkiyah An Nafs ke atas remaja. Metodologi Kajian Reka Bentuk dan Pembangunan yang dipelopori oleh Richey dan Klein telah digunakan dengan melibatkan tiga fasa kajian. Data fasa pertama iaitu analisis keperluan diperolehi dengan menjalankan temu bual separa berstruktur bersama empat orang pakar dalam bidang bimbingan dan kaunseling perspektif Islam dan pakar kesihatan mental dengan kaedah persampelan bertujuan. Dapatan daripada temu bual separa berstruktur dianalisis secara tematik. Data fasa kedua pula iaitu peringkat reka bentuk dan membangunkan modul diperolehi melalui teknik Fuzzy Delphi oleh 12 orang responden pakar bidang bimbingan dan kaunseling, kaunseling perspektif Islam, dan kesihatan mental. Isolation and characterization of friedelin and 5-dodecylresorcinol from the stem bark extract of Pterocarpus erinaceus

Abstract

Pterocarpus erinaceus (Fabaceae) is a medicinal plant used in the treatment of several diseases such as, fever, diarrhea, and dysentery. The aim of this research work is to isolate phytochemicals, evaluate antimicrobial and cytotoxic activities of the extract/isolated compounds from the stem bark of Pterocarpus erinaceus. The plant material was air dried and extracted with a polarity gradient of petroleum ether, ethyl acetate, and methanol. Purification of the methanol extract using column chromatography yielded two compounds: friedelin (1) and 5-dodecylresorcinol (2). Antimicrobial screening of the extracts and isolated compounds was conducted using the disc diffusion method, while the cytotoxicity was tested on the extracts using Brine Shrimp larvae. The methanol extract was more toxic (LC50 of 0.93 μg/mL) than petroleum ether (PER-PE) and ethyl acetate (PER-EA) extracts. Abstract

This study aimed to examine the educational supply chain management framework in the field of higher education in UAE by exploring the education-job mismatch, problems faced, and developing an educational supply chain management framework to reduce the mismatch. The method adopted in this study was qualitative research which was conducted through interview analysis. The sample size for this study included seven members of educational and non-educational sectors who provided data through administered interview protocol. Thematic analysis was considered in analyzing data on addressing the education-job mismatch. The analysis identified various factors that occur in higher education contributing to the education-job mismatch in the UAE including lack of understanding of education supply chain concept and poor curriculum. Abstract

Kajian ini meneliti perspektif dan pengalaman guru Pendidikan Islam mengenai tingkat penguasaan homograf dalam tulisan Jawi di sekolah menengah. Untuk memperoleh data yang mendetail dan kontekstual, metode kualitatif diterapkan, dan wawancara separa terstruktur telah dilakukan dengan sepuluh guru dari dua sekolah di daerah Maran, Pahang. Penelitian menunjukkan bahawa kebanyakan pelajar memiliki pemahaman fundamental mengenai homograf Jawi. Namun, mereka tetap menghadapi kesukaran untuk menafsirkan perkataan homograf dengan tepat dalam konteks ayat. Pelajar biasa melakukan kesilapan ini ketika menulis dan membaca, terutamanya apabila mereka sukar membezakan maksud yang berlainan bagi perkataan yang dieja sama.
