1 | 2016 Thesis | Rhythmic transitions during game playing session: a case study of Malaysian gamers Muhammad Fadhil Wong Abdullah This research investigates the actions of gamers during the in-game cut-scenes transitions and how they adapt in multiple higher level actions during their game playing sessions. Drawing on Mediated Discourse Analysis and Multimodal Interaction Analysis, the exact lower-level action - pressing a button and higher-level action - playing a game provides important insights throughout the entire video game playing session obtained through video ethnography method. Video data of 5760 minutes were collected over a period of twelve weeks from four participants. Videos transcription and multimodal transcript were utilized to further explain the complex interaction between the video gamer and the video game playing. The term ‘Rhythmic Transitions’ was derived from this research which explains the switching over from the primarily focused attention away during cut-scenes provided us with a perfectly linked and synchronized rhythm of actions. Findings provide important insights to games’ de..... 4440 hits |

3 | 2024 Article | Integrating Aesthetic Theory into the Design of Immersive Exhibitions for Data Imaging Muhammad Fadhil Wong bin Abdullah The aim of this study is to integrate the aesthetic theory into an immersive data imaging exhibition that shows how aesthetic principles influence user engagement, visual appealing and complex interaction in Tri Sphere Technologies. The study used mixed methodology for evaluating immersive visualization styles on interaction complexity, typography, average rating, color harmony and information architecture as well as aesthetics. The qualitative analysis investigated the immersive user engagement, exploration of data and aesthetic appealing in Tri Sphere Technologies visualizations. The data analysis revealed the complicated patterns and connections among aesthetic elements and modalities in immersive visualization like how Tri Sphere Technologies execute the thematic analysis in this context. This research provides the practical and theoretical implications of data exhibition design in the context of aesthetic theory. The results show how theory affects user experience in difficult var..... 15 hits |
4 | 2024 Article | Enhanced Mechanical Properties of 3D Printed Concrete Sculpture Material with Wood Fibers Reinforcement Muhammad Fadhil Wong bin Abdullah This study examined the mechanical characteristics of 3D printed concrete utilized in sculpture materials, with an emphasis on the incorporation of wood fibers. A series of experiments were conducted to probe into the wood fiber-reinforced 3D printed concrete sculpture materials. Through mechanical and microscopic examinations, the role of flexible fibers in enhancing the bearing capacity of concrete 3D printed components was investigated. The results indicated that an optimal amount of wood fiber addition significantly improved the mechanical properties of the concrete sculpture materials. At the interlayer interface, wood fibers exhibited elongation, thereby mitigating the specimen damage. However, beyond a certain threshold, the mechanical properties tended to decline due to either the agglomeration or direct dislodgment of wood fibers at the interlayer interface, which resulted in an absence of notable deformation. This scenario thereby failed to impede crack propagation. Hydrophob..... 10 hits |
