Competitive anxiety among university student-athlete of Uitm Sarawak

Abstract

This study investigates the competitive anxiety between genders and types of sports among university student-athletes of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Sarawak. A cross-sectional study was conducted with 155 student athletes (85 males and 70 females) using Sport Anxiety Scale-2 (SAS-2) to evaluate sports anxiety. A stratified random sampling technique was utilised in participants selection. The analysis result by independent sample t-test shows that there was a significant difference between male and female university student-athletes. ANOVA test was conducted to the university student-athletes to compare competitive anxiety between age groups and it was reported that there was no significant difference for somatic anxiety and worry but the result shows a significant for concentration disruption. Abstract

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) play an important role across all industries and are the key contributor to the achievements in the national and global economies. The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of risk management awareness on financial performance of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Oman by focusing on the relationship between the factors of risk management awareness towards the impact on financial performance in Oman. The study adopts a quantitative research approach using primary survey. Data in this study were collected via questionnaire which was administered to 400 respondents drawn from among Oman-based SMEs. The data analysis was conducted through a quantitative analysis involving descriptive analysis and One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). Practical risk management approaches among small and medium enterprises

Abstract

The focus on economic diversification has led to increased support for the establishment and development of SMEs by Omani government in order to contribute in GDP. Risk management has become a major challenge for SMEs in the country due to the lack of experience and knowledge. This research focuses on 'Risk Practical Management Strategies'adopted by SMEs to manage risk. The research is accomplished through a qualitative approach, gathered primary data through interviews and analyzed thematically to establish the trends and patterns in the data. The findings show that there is substantial awareness of the importance of risk management specially in financial and operational which are the key risks faced by businesses, coupled with reputational risk that is associated with the increased use of ecommerce.
