Abstract

Pendidikan adalah medium terbaik untuk menyebarluaskan konsep pendidikan pembangunan lestari (education for sustainable development, ESD) kepada masyarakat umum. Sebahagian besar program kesedaran alam sekitar pada masa kini menyasarkan kesedaran dalam aspek alam sekitar, ekonomi dan sosial ke arah kehidupan yang lebih lestari. Di Malaysia, misalnya, Program Sekolah Lestari Anugerah Alam Sekitar (SLAAS) telah diperkenalkan bagi tujuan tersebut. Justeru, kajian ini bertujuan mengkaji hubungan antara kesedaran ESD ibu bapa/ penjaga di bandar dan luar bandar dengan anak dan sebaliknya. Sejumlah 243 pelajar dan 243 ibu bapa/ penjaga yang terlibat dengan Program SLAAS menjadi sumber data primer analisis. Hasil kajian mendapati tingkah laku ESD ibu bapa atau penjaga di bandar adalah lebih baik berbanding dengan luar bandar. Seterusnya, terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara pengetahuan Program SLAAS dan pengetahuan kandungan ESD pelajar dengan pengetahuan ESD ibu bapa / penjaga. Sebaliknya.....

Abstract

Waste of resources and environmental degradation are more pronounced in tandem with growing consumerism, rising incomes, technological advances and the growth in population. One strategy to address this problem is to implement sustainable consumption practices. This study aims to identify the level of sustainable consumption practices among teachers, sustainable practices according to race and income. Survey method was used involving a total of 268 teachers from eight secondary schools in Puchong selected by non probability sampling. The result shows a high level of sustainable practices by respondents. It was found that the main factors influencing internal sustainable practices are to save resources and reduce waste, while the main factors influencing external sustainable practices are the attitude to put financial ability as a constraint to cope with sustainable practices that should be done. Correlation between leadership style and athlete motivation among males and females adolescents

Abstract

The objective of this study is to examine the correlation between the leadership style and athlete motivation among males and females adolescent athletes at SMK Dato 'Lela Pahlawan, Padang Serai Kedah. There were a total of 64 respondents comprising 32 male athletes and 32 female athletes who participated in various sports and were experienced with coach leadership styles. The data collection instruments used in this study were Leadership Scale for Sports (LSS), which measured five leadership behaviours perceived by athletes and Sports Motivation Scales (SMS), which determined the three basic factors of motivation including the intrinsic, extrinsic and amotivation of the athletes. The findings from Pearson product moment correlation analysis showed a positive and significant relationship between leadership behaviours and intrinsic motivation for male athletes in the training and instruction dimension (r = 0.64, p = 0.000, p < 0.05), and democracy dimension (r = 0.38, p = 0.032, p < 0.0.....

Development and validation of Writing Assessment Literacy Inventory (WALI) for English language primary school teachers using Rasch model

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop and validate the Writing Assessment Literacy Inventory (WALI) for the English primary school teachers focusing on three constructs which are practices, belief, and knowledge. The items of the instrument were mainly adapted based on the original instrument by Crusan et al., (2016) and input from literature in order to best suit the Malaysian context. This study used quantitative research approach using Rasch model in the data analysis. The draft instrument containing 56 items of original WALI was administered to 40 primary schools teachers for pilot study in order to measure the validity and reliability of this instrument. Based on the results of the pilot study, five items were removed from the original instrument. Psychometric assessment of the need for instructional video in bullying among parents a newly development instrument

Abstract

This study aimed to assess the underlying structure and internal consistency of the newly developed instrument, The Need for Instructional Videos on Bullying among Parents. The instrument's purpose is to identify parents' knowledge of bullying, their intervention skills, their role in bullying, need for an instructional video on bullying and adult learning (andragogy). The quantitative study includes 154 parents in Malaysia who have children in primary and secondary school. The cross-sectional survey design study was administered once and distributed virtually to parents in Malaysia. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Cronbach's alpha testing were used to assess the validity and reliability of the instrument. The extraction method used was Principal Axis Factoring with Varimax Rotation. The EFA extracted five factors with 73.01% total variance.
