EFL teachers challenges in the integration of Technology for online classrooms during Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in Iran

Abstract

The implementation of technology has provided the significant opportunities for language teachers to adopt online application and instruments to enhance learners’ proficiency in complicated conditions such as Coronavirus pandemic. Subsequently, with the improvement of learning technologies, EFL teachers face various challenges in language teaching. This study investigates the challenges that EFL teachers face toward the implementation of online teaching during Coronavirus pandemic conditions particularly in Iran. In achieving the goals of this study, 30 EFL teachers who worked in English language institutes in Iran participated in the study. These institutes have been closed to prevent the side-effects of the virus. Exploring the types and sources of Iranian EFL university students writing errors

Abstract

Making errors is considered to be an integral part of language learning process. Therefore, it is of paramount importance that different types and sources of students’ errors be identified. The present study aimed to examine the types and sources of errors in a corpus of essays written by 40 Iranian university students. They were given a title and asked to write an essay having at least 150 words. Based on Keshavarz’s (2013) model for error analysis, the errors made by the students were identified and tabulated according to their frequency. Moreover, the errors were classified into intralingual and interlingual ones. The results of the study indicated that the participants made 404 different errors among them, 71.88% were caused by interlingual interference, and 23.84% of them were caused by intralingual factors. Exploring Iranian and Turkish faculty members views toward using Augmented Reality English Trainer (ARET) application for educational purposes: a comparative study in different university faculties

Abstract

The advancement of technologies especially Augmented Reality (AR) in the field of education has brought special conditions where teachers and learners have controversial perspectives in using new technologies for educational purposes. Therefore, this study tried to investigate the faculty members’ ideas about Augmented Reality English Trainer (ARET) as a researcher-made application in the contexts of Iran and Turkey to ensure how educational beneficiaries can implement this application in face-to-face or distance education, and how their views are different. Subsequently, the basic phenomenological-qualitative design was chosen by the researchers of the study to investigate the views of faculty members in these countries. Pemaparan unsur \Sorubam\ dan \Thadatham\ Dewa Siva dalam lagu-lagu Thirunaavukkarasar

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the display of the elements of Lord Shiva’s ‘Sorubam’ and ‘Thadatham’ in Thirunaavukkarasar’s songs based on the theories found in the Saiva Sidhantham. Rooted on the theory, ‘Sivanyabotham’ is referred to in context of this research to analyze the display of the focussed elements. The methodology used in this research is of mixed method, whereby both qualitative and quantitative method were used descriptively based on the analysis of the texts used in Thirunaavukkarasar’s songs. Data is obtained through document analysis and questionnaire. 100 Thirunaavukkarasar’s songs were used for data collection through document analysis. The questionnaire consists of 3 parts with 24 items in total, with Part A consisting of seven items pertaining to Thirunaavukkarasar, Part B with 10 items pertaining to ‘Enkunanggal’, and Part C with seven items pertaining to ‘Aintholil’.
