1 | 2014 Thesis | Effectiveness of face-to-face and Facebook collaborative writing in Malaysian ESL undergraduates writing performance Siti Shuhaida Shukor This study investigated the effects of Facebook collaborative writing on a group of English as Second Language (ESL) undergraduates'a writing participants of the study were 33 second year ESL undergraduates at the Faculty of Educational Studies, Universiti Putra Malaysia. They were categorized into two groups i.e. experimental and comparison groups using the matching-only design. The experimental group was assigned to Facebook collaborative writing tasks while the comparison group was assigned with face-to-face tasks. Face-to-face is considered as the conventional method in this study. This study employed a quasi experimental design with quantitative data. Instruments of the study were pre- and post- writing tests, as well as a set of questionnaire. The fieldwork was conducted in one semester. Aziz, Lebar Othman, Dollah Mohd. Uzi, Penyelidikan ini bertujuan mengukur keberkesanan pengajaran dan pembelajaran Biologi menggunakan Model Konstruk Pengetahuan Berstruktur (KPB). Dalam menilai keberkesanan KPB, perbandingan dibuat dengan Pengajaran dan Pembelajaran Tradisional (PPT). Model KPB mengandungi tiga fasa utama iaitu pemerolehan, integrasi dan aplikasi konsep-konsep. Modul KPB diguna sebagai protokol pelaksanaan pengajaran dan pembelajaran mengikut Model KPB bagi topik Respirasi dan Tenaga dalam mata pelajaran Biologi tingkatan empat. Pelaksanaan PPT tidak menggunakan modul khusus tetapi sentiasa dipastikan menggunakan buku teks dan melakukan amali yang sama, tetapi tidak memberi penekanan pengajaran mengikut fasa-fasa KPB terutamanya peringkat integrasi. 4 | 2021 Article | Eufemisme dan disfemisme dalam komunikasi pelajar berdasarkan Prinsip Kesantunan Leech Rahizian Mohd Shukor Kajian ini bertujuan menjelaskan penggunaan eufemisme dan disfemisme dalam komunikasi berdasarkan Prinsip Kesantunan Leech (1993). Kajian ini merupakan suatu tinjauan yang menggunakan kaedah kualitatif. Proses pengumpulan data melibatkan dua kaedah, iaitu kaedah kepustakaan dan pemerhatian dengan bantuan instrumen seperti buku catatan, alat perakam dan borang maklum balas. Responden kajian merupakan 30 orang pelajar tingkatan 1 Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Dato’ Haji Kamaruddin, Kuala Kubu Bharu, Selangor. Hasil kajian menunjukkan pelajar mempunyai pengetahuan mengenai eufemisme dan disfemisme, serta boleh menggunakannya mengikut situasi tertentu. Hasil kajian juga menunjukkan terdapat dua maksim yang dominan yang digunakan oleh pelajar iaitu maksim penghargaan dan maksim kerendahan hati. Dari segi implikasi, kajian ini bertujuan mengetengahkan kepentingan penggunaan bahasa yang santun ketika berkomunikasi.

5 | 2021 Thesis | Pembangunan dan kebolehgunaan Bio-Pal Handbook: Coordination dalam kalangan fasilitator Peer Assisted Learning Biologi matrikulasi Norshahfizah Abdul Shukor Kajian ini bertujuan untuk membangun dan menguji kebolehgunaan manual fasilitator
iaitu Bio-PAL Handbook: Coordination sebagai alternatif untuk meningkatkan
kompetensi fasilitator dalam mengendalikan sesi Peer Assisted Learning (PAL).
Manual ini dibangunkan untuk fasilitator kursus Biologi bagi topik Koordinasi bagi
Program Matrikulasi. Kajian ini menggunakan reka bentuk Kajian Pembangunan
berpandukan Model ADDIE. Nilai kesahan ditentukan melalui indeks kesahan
kandungan (CVI) dan kaedah peratusan. Nilai kebolehpercayaan manual pula
diperolehi melalui kajian rintis yang dijalankan ke atas 30 orang responden. Seramai
52 orang fasilitator PAL Biologi terlibat dalam kajian sebenar bagi menguji
kebolehgunaan manual yang dibangunkan. Kajian mendapati nilai CVI bagi item I-CVI
dan S-CVI kedua-duanya adalah menghampiri 1.00 dengan nilai peratusan iaitu 94.5%.

6 | 2021 Article | Teaching sales course in a higher learning institution: learning by doing Syadiyah Abdul Shukor It is an ultimate learning experience to be able to bridge theory and real-world practice in sales class. Nonetheless, it is a challenge for educators in higher learning institutions to incorporate practical aspects into teaching. In response, this study was conducted to expose students to perform selling in a real-life situation. 42 students enrolled in a professional selling course in a higher learning institution in Malaysia were given a selling task. The students were asked to promote a financial product (i.e., insurance) to a potential client under the supervision of an insurance agent. The task given to the students was part of the course assessment and carried out throughout a semester. Students’ perceptions of the benefit gained from performing selling in the real sales environment were obtained through student evaluations at the end of the course. Berfikir Aras Tinggi (KBAT) kanak-kanak prasekolah berdasarkan empat tahap
pemikiran kemahiran berfikir aras tinggi iaitu mengaplikasi, menganalisis, menilai dan
mencipta. Kajian ini dijalankan menggunakan kaedah persampelan bertujuan dalam
menentukan responden yang bersesuaian di mana seorang guru berserta 13 orang
kanak-kanak di sebuah prasekolah swasta di negeri Perak dipilih. Kajian kualitatif ini
menggunakan reka bentuk kajian kes. Data kajian diperoleh menerusi pemerhatian,
dokumen, temu bual terhadap peserta kajian. Data dianalisis menggunakan kaedah
analisis naratif dan analisis kandungan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan empat tahap
kemahiran berfikir aras tinggi iaitu mengaplikasi, menganalisis, menilai dan mencipta

8 | 2023 Article | The Relationship between motivation and english language test performance among secondary vocational schools students in China Siti Shuhaida Shukor In China, secondary school students studying at the vocational stream often struggle to keep up with English language learning. This study investigates the relationship between two types of motivation extrinsic and intrinsic towards the English language test performance of students from a secondary vocational school in Chongqing, China. A mixed-method research design was employed via a survey and a semi-structured interview. A total of 212 second-grade students at randomly selected secondary vocational schools completed the questionnaire. A correlational analysis was performed to discover if there was a relationship between students extrinsic and intrinsic motivation towards their English performance. The results reveal that the intrinsic motivation was strongly correlated with the students English performance with r=0.216, p0.05. 9 | 2023 Article | Importance-performance analysis for improving online learning in business and management programme Syadiyah Abdul Shukor Online learning has become the new standard in higher education since the COVID-19 epidemic. In order to be effective, colleges and universities must evaluate the delivery of online classes using relevant data gathered from their students. This paper demonstrates the use of importance-performance analysis to continuously improve online learning quality. Undergraduate students, who are enrolled in Business and Management programme at a higher learning institution located in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia are invited to participate in this survey via online survey questionnaire. A total of 239 responses are received and analysed using importance-performance analysis technique. The results show that facilitating conditions, namely technology and interaction fell into the ‘Concentrate Here’ quadrant; course delivery and instructor factors in the ‘Keep Up the Good Work’ quadrant; and learners’ readiness in the ‘Low Priority’ quadrant.
