| 1 | 2010 Thesis | Expressing opinions through blog: ideas of the ESL students Yoon, Sook Jhee This case study aimed at exploring the use of blog in helping ESL student to express ideas. The study investigated the participants’ responses, perceptions and feelings while and after engaging in blogging, and providing and receiving comments. A class of 30 ESL students participated in this study. Topics were given every week for eight consecutive weeks. Participants were free to log on to the blogs. Data from the blog content and self assessment rubrics were collected concurrently with the study. At the end of the study, participants answered questionnaire. Semi-structure interviews were conducted. Data were coded with initial coding, followed by focused coding. Data from the four sources were triangulated. Three major themes emerged from the study. Firstly, based on the number of entries, it is found that blogging motivated the majority of the participants to voice out their opinions. | 3 | 2015 Thesis | Stress, coping and emotions among Malaysian elite tenpin bowlers: a mixed methods approach Wong, Sook Kwan This research aimed to examine stressors, coping and emotions among Malaysian elite bowlers at pre-competition (PRE) and match days (MD). A total of fifteen elite bowlers completed diary packs on three occasions reporting stressors, coping strategies, coping effectiveness, emotions and its intensity and twelve of them were interviewed. One of the competitions was categorized as minor (MIN), whereas two as major competitions (MAJ). Data analyses used both quantitative and qualitative methods. Findings from diary revealed five stressors reoccurred over time. Additional three stressors were probed via interviews which did not report in diary. Problem-focused coping were the most reported strategies but only effective at different contexts; emotion-focused coping (EFC) was preferred at MD but only effective at PRE; while avoidance coping was the least reported and rated effective in MIN but not MAJ. The objective is to identify the level of organizational learning dimension and the level of teachers’ innovative work behavior. The methodology of this research is based on quantitative with exploratory design where a set of questionnaire consisting of three sections has been distributed and collectedfrom 160 respondents. The questionnaires were based on the Organizational Learning and Teachers’ Innovative Work Behavior indicators that have been modified and used in several studies. The data was collected and analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistic. The findings showed that, there was a high significant relationship between organizational learning and innovative work behavior. muzik dan gerakan (MUZKAN). Kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif
dengan reka bentuk interaktif dan holistik. Seorang guru dan 18 orang kanakkanak
prasekolah yang dipilih secara bertujuan dilibatkan sebagai peserta dalam
tiga fasa kajian iaitu pembinaan, pelaksanaan dan penilaian. Modul yang
mengandungi empat sub topik, iaitu ‘Nyanyi Fonik ABC’, ‘Rasa Sayang KV’,
‘Saya Suka Baca’ dan ‘Nyanyi dan Baca’ dibina berteraskan Model Dick dan
Carey. Data kajian dikumpul menerusi proses pencerapan pengajaran dan

| 8 | 2024 Article | Lessons to learn from managing school refusal of an adolescent boy with complex clinical presentation: A case report Lee Sook Huey School refusal can lead to short and long-term impairing consequences if not treated. This case study describes the management of a 13-year-old boy who presented with school refusal comorbid with medically unexplained paralysis and depression with psychotic features. The patient underwent a psychological assessment to clarify his diagnosis, followed by developmentally appropriate cognitive behavioral therapy. With these interventions, the patient showed promising improvement in his well-being and functioning. This study illustrates a case with unique association of school refusal, depression, dissociation in conversion disorder, and psychosis. The patient’s complex comorbidity required an individualized case formulation and a systemic intervention approach for effective management. The study underscores the need for future research to focus on identifying risk factors for early detection of school refusal and exploring the role of dissociation in conversion disorder and psychosis. This case study presents the assessment procedure for a preschooler of mixed ethnicity who exhibited atypical speech, rigidity, and difficulty with transitions. The assessment results confirm a diagnosis of high-functioning autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This case study illustrates the diverse modes of language acquisition in children with autism, suggesting that their speech development may differ from neurotypical peers. Future studies could investigate the language acquisition patterns of ASD children who engage in non-social language learning. Understanding the challenges faced by these individuals can play a crucial role in tailoring effective and culturally sensitive interventions to support their overall well-being and development.
