Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the attitude differences of Malay male and female students towards the use of swear words. The respondents consist of thirteen male and thirteen female Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris students aged between twenty and twenty three majoring in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL), Sport Science, Malay studies and Accounting. The quantitative and qualitative analyses were used in this study. The descriptive statistics is used to report the frequency and percentages and the content analysis suggested by Fraenkel & Wallen (2003) was employed. The findings of this study indicate that the female students tend to use swear words negatively while the male students used it both negatively and positively. Both male and female students feel that factors such as environmental influences, the media and the norm encouraged the use of swearwords. Their approval and disapproval of the use of swear words are visible in their non-verbal language (gesture, .....

Abstract
The Impact of Repeated Reading Strategy on the Reading Fluency of Malaysian Lower Secondary School Students. Hasimah Ja'afar, 2015: Applied Dissertation, Nova Southeastern University, Abraham S. Fischler College of Education. ERIC Descriptors: Directed Reading Activity, Reading Fluency, Accuracy, Decoding (Reading), Word Recognition This applied dissertation was designed to investigate the impact of repeated reading on the reading fluency of Malaysian lower secondary school students using curriculumbased measurement (CBM), also known as the oral reading fluency (ORF)procedure (Deno, 1985,2003). The CBM (Deno, 2003) was used to establish the participants' reading accuracy and automaticity in word decoding. The Multi-Dimensional Fluency Rubric (Rasinski, 2004b) was used to assess the participants' reading prosody, and the Reading Evaluation and Decoding System test (Mohamed, Eng, & Ismail, 2010) was used to assess the participants' reading comprehension ability. An analysis of the data r.....

Abstract
Cassia tora is a leguminous plant belonging to the family Fabaceae and are used for the treatment of lepsory, psoriasis, ringworm, ulcers, skin diseases and as a laxative and antiasthenic. The preliminary phytochemical screening of the ethanolic extract of Cassia tora was carried out using standard methods while the nutritional values were studied for moisture content, ash content, crude lipids, crude fibre, crude protein and carbohydrates. The preliminary phytochemical analysis of the leaves indicated the presence of anthraquinones, flavonoids, steroids/triterpenoids, fats, tannins, alkaloids, carbohydrates, phlobatannins and glycosides. The proximate analysis of the leaves revealed that it contained crude fat 6.01%, crude fibre 7.54%, moisture 10.23%, ash content 15.01%, crude protein 27.34% and carbohydrate 33.69%. Cassia tora leaves could be a potential source of nutritional and mineral elements that may be useful in nutrition. The phytochemicals observed in this study explained th.....

Abstract
This study was carried out to investigate the effectiveness of using the Computer Assisted Repeated Reading (CARR) technique to enhance Form One rural students? oral reading fluency (ORF). The single subject experimental design (SSED) involved five students who participated in a 12-week study where CARR intervention was carried out twice a week. CARR, the adaptation of the CBM/ORF procedure, was used to improve their accuracy and automaticity in word decoding. Each participant?s accuracy and automaticity in word decoding before and after intervention were charted on line graphs. Accuracy was determined by the percentage of words read correctly. The participant?s initial reading accuracy showed that they could only read at instructional level but improved after the CARR intervention. Automaticity was determined by the reading rate or words read correctly per minute (WCPM) and the results too showed improvements. It can be concluded that the CARR technique was effective in improving stru.....

Abstract

Abstract
This article aims to deliver updates on the pharmacological activities of Globimetula and Scurrula species and their usage as ethnomedicine worldwide. About 13 species of Globimetula and 10 species of Scurrula are spread in Africa and Asia respectively. There is a need to establish the pharmacological properties of the plant extracts and isolated compounds from these species. Research on the biological activities of Globimetula and Scurrula species showed considerable disease-related enzyme (tyrosinase) inhibition as well as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, anticonvulsant, central nervous system depressant, and cytotoxic activities. This review also affords important information for the future growth of isolated compounds from Globimetula and Scurrula species. Keywords: Loranthaceae, phytochemicals, alkaloids, triterpenes, flavonoids..

Abstract
This article review is designed to bring some updates on the phytochemistry of the Loranthaceae family in order to throw more light on future research priorities. Loranthaceae family is the leading pantropical semi parasitic shrubs generally termed mistletoe. They consist of about 75 genera and 1000 species growing in many countries of Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, South America and New Zealand with diverse widespread uses in adornment, food and medication. The literatures for this review was collected from various online databases: Google Scholar, PubMed, Research gate, Science Direct, Scopus and web of Science for nine genera namely, Globimetula, Scurrula, Dendrophtoe, Loranthus, Phragmanthera, Tapinanthus, Taxillus, Tripodanthus and Viscum based on the type of phytochemicals, popularity and environmental setting. Chemical studies of the Loranthaceae species have produced a number of important phytochemicals belonging to different classes. The recent investigations led to the disc.....
