1 | 2018 Article | Predicting depressions with child abuse potential among career parents in Melaka, Malaysia Perveen, Asma Thisresearch was conducted to examine the relationship between depression and child abuse among career parents in Melaka. Career parents both father and mothers in different fields (N=60) were randomly selected from Melaka, Malaysia. Clinical Assessment of Depression (CAD) and Child Abuse Potential Inventory (CAPI) instruments were used to collect the data. The results revealed that depression has significant positive relationship with child abuse potential inventory (r=.640**). The results concluded that there is significant positive relationship between depressions with the child abuse potential among career parents in Melaka and depressions is a predicting factor related to child abuse potential among career parents in Melaka. Child abuse is a complex phenomena which needs to be studied for the management of health parents and child relationship. 3 | 2019 Article | Determining the reliability of the emotional competency module on Malaysian adolescents Asma Perveen This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Emotional Competency Module developed specifically for adolescents in Malaysia to help address the huge delinquent behavior cases in Malaysia. Method: This module is one of the modules that was developed based on Daniel Goleman’s four emotion competency constructs. The module reliability instrument was developed based on the objectives of the activities in the module. A pilot test was conducted to measure the reliability of the module. After the pilot test, 19 participants were asked to answer the module reliability instrument and later on a Cronbach’s alpha value was analysed. Results: All the four domains and the overall module activities items showed very high reliability values. The reliability value showed that the module had a Cronbach’s alpha of 0.968 to 0.826. Case study finds are based on clinical interview, family sessions, teachers recommendation plans, psychological assessment, and individual intervention plans. The child attended the sessions for 12 weeks. The interventions have a significant effect on the behavior outcome and family understanding about the child, emotional, cognitive and social issues. Child behavior was significantly improved in the classroom by engaging in activities and providing positive verbal support and appreciation by teachers. Study shows the significant importance of psychological management to manage childhood problems. The early detection of issues and management can help the children to learn effectively in school and society. The implications of the study are important for healthy development and early childhood education.

5 | 2019 Article | Emotional competence module to handle youth emotional issues Asma Perveen This study aims to test the application of the Emotional Competency Module developed specifically for adolescents in Malaysia to help address the emotional competency issues in Malaysia. The module Emotional competency was developed in three phases, first phase conducted the survey, and interview with adolescents, students and professional dealing with emotional competency issues of different schools and universities. Phase 2nd was development of the emotional competency activities to enhance the emotional competency based on the thematic analysis and review analysis of the research findings. 7 | 2021 Article | Relationship between mental health literacy and help seeking behavior among undergraduate students Perveen, Asma The aim of the study is to identify the level of mental health literacy among undergraduate students to explore the relationship between mental health literacy and help seeking behavior among UPSI students and to identify the significant difference in mental health literacy score for students who have encountered people with mental health disorders. The study adapted cross-sectional quantitative survey design. Mental Health Literacy Scale (MHLS) and General Help-Seeking Questionnaire are used in this study. N=130 UPSI students (n=25 male, n=105 female) completed the online survey which measure multiple dimensions of mental health literacy and help seeking behavior. The level of mental health literacy of undergraduate students was measured through the mean score of the MHLS. Result revealed a mean score of the MHLS obtained from the sample is (M=117.97, SD=14.62). This score is lower as compared to previous studies using the same scale. 8 | 2021 Article | The relationship between prosocial behavior and psychological well-being among undergraduate students Perveen, Asma This study aimed to provide understanding on the significance of prosocial behavior and psychological well-being among undergraduate students of Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI). Undergraduate students (N=156) among 48 males and 108 females involved in this study. This is a quantitative study that use online survey method to obtain the data. The participants involved completed a set of questionnaire that consists of demographic information, Prosocialness Scale for Adults, and Ryff’s Scale of Psychological Well-being. The results of present study revealed that there is a positive correlation between prosocial behavior and psychological well-being (r = .30), and also a positive correlation between prosocial behavior and domain of psychological well-being of positive relations with others (r = .429) among undergraduate students of UPSI. The overall perception of this sample and the correlation between factors of instruments, which are Interpersonal Comfort, Sex/Gender Beliefs, and Human Value are investigated in this research, as well. In this quantitative research, a cross-sectional, online survey questionnaire was participated by 209 students (S=209) which consisted of 53 males (25.36%) and 156 females (74.64%) from the Faculty of Human Development of UPSI participants through a Google Form link.
