| 2016 article | Effects of augmented feedback on squat technique among eleven years old children Ahmad Tajudin Ahmad Syariff, Mohamad Rosni Mohamad Hamka Nizam, Low Jeffrey, Fook Lee, Journal of Sports Science and Physical Education 5(1): 1-8, 2016 - The purpose of this study was to compare the acquisition of performing the squat technique using visual and verbal feedback among eleven years old children. Thirty standard 5 students from a semi urban primary school were recruited for this study. Each participant performed the squat without any provision of feedback in the pre-test. Their performance was assessed using the Motion Competency Screen (MCS) scale. The pre-test scores were used to divide the participants randomly into three groups (i.e., visual-, verbal-feedback and control). During the acquisition phase (two weeks), the visual group (video recordings of their performance) received feedback about the correct squat technique by a qualified trainer while the verbal feedback group received verbal instructions and feedback from the same instructor on their performance. The control group did not participate in any trials during acquisition phase. All participant..... 1817 hits |
| 2016 article | Evaluation on the implementation of Bachelor of Education program, Faculty of Sport Science and Coaching Jani Julismah, Mohd Shariff Abdul Rahim, Salimin Norkhalid, Shahril Mohd Izwan, Mohd Rasyid Nelfianty, Jusoh Normah, Low Jeffrey, Fook Lee, Elumalai G Journal of Sports Science and Physical Education 5(1): 77-94, 2016 - This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of the Bachelor of Education (Honours) programmes offered by the Faculty of Sports Science and Coaching in producing quality graduates and their employability in the profession. Samples for this study comprised of 49 graduates from the B Ed (Sports Science), 25 graduates from B Ed (Coaching Science) and nine B Ed (Physical Education) who have graduated from 2010 to 2014 as well as their respective employers and peers were selected as respondents. Six to ten samples from each programme together with their employers were interviewed further using guided questionnaire. Data was analysed descriptively as well as correlation and regression methods. The findings showed that the graduates mastered very high levels of the knowledge and skills of the courses related to their respective programmes. They also achieved excellent levels of knowledge and skills in the implementation of ..... 6852 hits |
| 2016 article | Relationship between lower body muscle architecture and lunges performance Md Nadzalan Ali, Mohamad Nur Ikhwan, Low Jeffrey Fook Lee, Chinnasee Chamnan, Journal of Sports Science and Physical Education 5(2): 15-23, 2016 - This study was conducted to determine the relationship between lower body muscle architectures and lunges performance. Thirty recreationally active, untrained men (mean age = 22.21 ± 1.59 yrs old) were recruited and involved in two testing sessions; i) anthropometrics and muscle architecture, and ii) multiple-repetition maximum (RM) lunge test. Muscle thickness, pennation angle and fascicle length of vastus lateralis (VL), vastus medialis (VM), rectus femoris (RF) and biceps femoris (BF) were analysed using ultrasonography. Multiple-RM lunge testing was used as an estimation of 1RM lunges performance. Correlation analysis was used to determine the relationship between lower body muscle architectures and lunges performance calculated absolutely and relatively (1RM/body mass). The overall results showed that muscle thickness and pennation angle of all muscles were significantly positive correlated with lunges performan..... 1759 hits |
| 2016 article | The effects of external and internal focus on the press behind neck lift among weightlifters Ghazalli Ahmad Fazlan, Abdul Rani Mahamad Yusof, Low Jeffrey Fook Lee, Journal of Sports Science and Physical Education 5(2): 53-60, 2016 – Many previous studies focus on attention has consistently demonstrated that an external focus (movement effect) enhances motor performance and learning relative to an internal focus (body movements). However, the effectiveness of the external focus direction and internal focus on the press behind neck lift not yet again compared among the weightlifter. Therefore, the aim of this study was to identify the three conditions (external focus, internal focus and control) that brings the best performance in the press behind neck. Besides that, a total of 30 athletes Selangor weightlifters performed the pre-test before they are divided into treatment groups (external focus and internal focus) and a control group. There are changes in the score in force between the test scores (pre, post and retention test) and the group will be analyzed using Two Way ANOVA Repeated Measure. The results showed that, there are the main effect..... 1627 hits |
| 2014 article | Developmental practice activities of elite youth swimmers Tan Angelina Li San, Low Jeffrey Fook Lee, The purpose of the study was to examine the developmental pathways of elite youth swimmers. Swim-related developmental activities of elite and sub-elite youth swimmers were examined. Fifteen elite (8 males; 7 females) and 15 subelite (5 males; 10 females) youth swimmers were recruited for the study. A semistructured questionnaire was used to record retrospectively the hours engaged in swim-related activities (i.e., structured and unstructured activities) from beginning of career. No significant differences were found for swim-related developmental milestones for both elite and sub-elite swimmers. Overall, the elite swimmers accumulated more hours in swim-related activities than the sub-elites between 6-15 years of age. Although the former accumulated more hours in both structured and unstructured swimming activities between 6-12 years of age, no significant differences were found between the groups. However, the elite swimmers accumulated significantly more hours in structured swimming..... 775 hits |
