Major reason for this research being conducted was to identify pupils’ weaknesses in constructing essays, hence provide the alternative to improve the quality of essay writing of the Year 5 pupils. This research was based on quantitative method utilizing questionnaires and evaluation on essays. Essays were constructed in narrative form of given titles and tested in two sets; pre and post. 36 year 5 pupils chosen from a suburb government school in Tanjong Malim, Perak were made sample. Research were narrowed to techniques of writing using 6 interrogative pronounces namely : what, where, when, who, why and how. Reviewed literatures were also incurred to explain further of this matter. The instrument used in this research was a set of questionnaires divided into 3 sections. Section A reflected on the respondents background, section B comprised the basic knowledge of composing and section 3 contained the information of respondents capabilities of constructing essays.
