1 | 2018 Thesis | Evaluation pf razor clam (Ensis directus) shell as an adsorbent for removal of heavy metals and dyes from aqueous solution Lila Elamari Mohamed Areibat This research aimed to evaluate the potential of razor clam (Ensis directus) shell, a
fishery waste material, as an adsorbent for the removal of heavy metals and dyes from aqueous
solution. This research is divided into three parts, namely characterisation studies, adsorption
studies and desorption studies. Several analytical instruments such as scanning electron microscope
(SEM), energy dispersive x-ray (EDX) spectrometer and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR)
spectrometer were used to characterise the adsorbent. In this study, three metal ions (Cd(II),
Cu(II) and Pb(II)) and four dyes (Congo red (CR), methylene blue (MB), Rhodamine B (RB) and methyl
orange (MO)) were used as contaminants. A series of adsorption tests were carried out as a function
of solution pH, adsorbent dosage and initial adsorbate concentration. The adsorption capacity of
razor clam shell for metal ions and dyes from aqueous solutions was evaluated in both single and
mix systems. The de..... 7509 hits |
2 | 2019 Article | The effectiveness of hands-on modules in learning science: A case Study in Malaysia Mohamed Nor Azhari Azman The main aim of this study is to examine the effectiveness of two novel learning modules, namely the Arts & Stability Card and Magnobolt modules, on the understanding of relevant concepts of stability and electromagnetism, respectively, among Malaysian secondary school students. The modules were developed based on the Malaysian Secondary School curriculum for science subjects that promote hands-on activities in the classrooms. A quasiexperimental method was used that involved two control and two experimental groups. Students in experimental groups used the novel learning modules, whereas those in the control group used the conventional learning materials. For the evaluation of the Arts & Stability Cards module, forty-eight and fifty students were assigned to the control and experimental groups, respectively. For the evaluation of the Magnobolt module, seventy-nine and seventy-eight students were assigned to the control and experimental groups, respectively. A series of t-tests were per..... 7965 hits |
3 | 2008 Thesis | Kesan penggunaan modul kecerdasan naturalis terhadap pencapaian biologi di kalangan pelajar tingkatan empat Ismail Mohamed Nor The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of a teaching and learning module which applies Naturalist Intelligence (NI module) for the topic microorganisms on form four Biology students’ achievement. This is a 2 X 2 factorial Quasi experiment method. Two aspects being compared are students’ gender and Biology teaching method. NI module used was developed based on Dick & Carey (1985) instructional model. This module was used as an intervention on 30 Biology students from the experimental group while another 30 students from the control group followed the conventional teaching and learning method. Two types of instruments being used in this study were Naturalist Intelligence (NI) checklist and Biology achievement post-test. Both instruments show a Cronbach alfa reliabilities of 0.72 and 0.73 respectively. NI checklist used was to determine the NI score and NI level in both of student groups. Biology achievement test was to determine the Biology achievement. Data obtained..... 5762 hits |

6 | 2014 Thesis | Quranic memorisation exploring cognitive processes among the huffaz Zarina Mohamed @ Ayub Through a framework of cognitive psychology, this study explores the cognitive processes involved in memorising the Qur 'an using the Information Processing Approach (IPA). This study adopts a qualitative case study design consisting of indepth interviews with five (5) experienced huffaz (memorisers of the Qur'an). The responses revealed that sensory memory, Short-Term Memory (STM) and Long-Term Memory (LTM) processes are involved in memorising the Qur' an. During the sensory memory stage, participants highlighted the importance of teacher-student face-to-face encounter to ensure students achieved proficient Qur' anic recitation based on a recognized sanad (recitation style) before they start to memorise. This significant process is termed as talaqqi-musyafahah (face-to-face verbal instruction). Due to the fact that the Qur'an is Kalamullah (Speech of Allah), all participants pointed out that careful attention to details is critical. Participants emphasized the need to observe high lev..... 1294 hits |
7 | 2006 Thesis | Penguasaan, sikap dan pandangan pelajar tingkatan lima terhadap peribahasa di dua buah sekolah daerah Raub, Pahang Zauyati Zainal Mohamed Alias This research uses the survey technique with regards to form 5 students’ mastery, attitude and views on Malay idiomatic phrases in two schools in the distict of Raub, Pahang. 60 students of different gender, race and location (address) were used on research samples. Two instruments were used to measure students mastery of Malay idiomatic expression i.e questionaires and 24 questions in the form of questions from idioms, sayings, similes and proverbs. The data obtained from the study will be processed using ‘Statistical Packages for the Social Sciences’ version 10.0 an analysis software. Based on the analysis of the form 5 bahasa Melayu text book, there are 39 idiomatic expressions. The results of the research too shows that, many students like learning idiomatic expressions but many do not tend to use them in conversations. According to the variant and mastery of learning expressions, it is found that there was no stark significance in terms of gender in the sample students. Howe..... 2427 hits |
8 | 2017 Article | Effect of polynomial shift in the method for finding the largest eigenvalue of a polynomial Nurul Akmal Mohamed A new method for finding the largest eigenvalue of a generalised nonnegative polynomial was introduced in 2014 by Ibrahim. The method was proven to be convergent for weakly irreducible polynomials. In the method, an irreducible polynomial is shifted such that it becomes primitive. However, it is illlkno\Vll what is the optimal shift and the effect of the step length to the method. In this study we examine the effect of the step leugtli to tlie metliod... 563 hits |
