The growth of urbanization in Malaysia has led to a greater demand of construction projects especially for building development. The demand has created pressure on the sustainability issues especially in urban area of the country. There are many efforts relating to sustainability integration in building projects have been implemented in Malaysia. Unfortunately, till now the issues of unsustainable building projects in the county are likely to persist. This denotes that there is a gap between the field of sustainability and the integration practices within Malaysian building projects. Sustainable development has received encouraging attention since the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development was signed in 1992 Earth Summit. In Malaysia, the focus on sustainability in building, especially in devising policies has been spelled out in the government policies at national, state and local level. Green building is an emerging concept with the ultimate target to achieve sustainable development. Many studies revealed that the building project had contributed towards sustainability and project success in the past. The purpose of this study was to determine the advantages of sustainable application in building projects, looking towards project success from the perspective of Malaysian project stakeholders and to explore the establishment of sustainability goals in the green building projects in Malaysia. The Triple Bottom Line Concept of Sustainability (TBL) was used as the foundation of the theoretical framework. Quantitative, qualitative and multiple case study methods were employed. The association between external factors and the implementation of the green building principles among housing developers in Klang Valley

Major greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions come from residential buildings that account for approximately 65% of the global total, while commercial buildings account for the balance of 35%. Thus, green housing development implementation is important to achieve a sustainable building through an energy efficient use. Unfortunately, Malaysia green building implementation in housing development is still lacking. Malaysia Green Building Index (GBI) stated that only 28 out of 818 registered housing projects delivered in Klang Valley were certified with Certified Verification Assessment (CVA) in 2016. Green building is a holistic project that requires integrated planning and design approaches through the involvement of multidisciplinary professions. Green building projects in Malaysia usually involve developers, architects, engineers and energy consultants to make decisions in planning and design. The role of town planners in the project is limited especially when it comes to getting the approval for planning from the local authorities. This study aimed to identify the level of town planners’ involvement in the planning and design process of green building projects in Malaysia. Community engagement approach in the conservation of heritage buildings in Taiping, Malaysia

Community engagement has been revealed as a significant approach for heritage building  conservation. This study aims to identify the extent of local community involvement in the community engagement efforts that had been undertaken to conserve heritage buildings in Taiping. It also seeks to determine the relationship between the perceived costs and benefits of the project and the level of involvement in decision-making. Besides, the relationship between the level of involvement and support of the community for the conservation of heritage buildings was also explored. The data collection methods used were questionnaire survey and interviews. The questionnaire survey forms were distributed to 82 private building owners of gazetted heritage buildings in Taiping. Effect of Social Capital on Organizational Performance of SMEs in Klang Valley, Malaysia

This study examined the direct relationships between social capital (SC) and organisational performance (OP). Studies have shown SC is a factor that contribute to this gap. The effect of IR4.0 and other megatrends make it even more challenging for these SMEs to prosper. Hence, SMEs require to make use of their full potential which includes adopting the best practices implemented in most develop countries, which is to increase the SC. This implementation validates new business models, the creation of new industries and redirecting of resources. The increasing rates of SC in the country can result in positive well-being functions, sustainability, and economic growth. Self-administered questionnaires were used to collect data from 500 SME manufacturing firms located in Klang Valley, in April and May 2018, and the gathered data was analysed by using SPSS 23.0.
