Mengenal pasti aplikasi kognisi dalam Rancangan Pengajaran Harian melalui tunjang sains dan teknologi prasekolah

Kajian ini dijalankan bagi mengkaji aplikasi kognisi dalam pengajaran dan pembelajaran di prasekolah bagi tunjang sains dan teknologi melalui Kaedah Hermeneutik. Kajian ini dijalankan secara kualitatif dengan menggunakan 14 buah Rancangan Pengajaran Harian (RPH) dari seorang guru praktikum. Kaedah Hermeneutik telah digunakan untuk menginterpretasi RPH bagi menganalisis aplikasi kognisi dalam komponen sains dan matematik yang diajar oleh guru praktikum. Hasil dapatan menunjukkan guru praktikum masih lagi kurang menerapkan aplikasi kognisi dalam pengajaran dan pembelajaran di prasekolah berdasarkan tunjang sains dan teknologi. Kebanyakan aktiviti pengajaran dan pembelajaran serta alat bantu mengajar kurang memberi kesan terhadap proses kognisi kanak-kanak. Kementerian Pelajaran Malaysia perlu menyediakan kursus tentang aplikasi kognisi untuk meningkatkan kemahiran mengajar di prasekolah..

Estimating technical efficiency and bootstrapping Malmquist indices : analysis of Malaysian Preschool sector

This study is focused on conceptual paper and the purpose of this study is to conduct an empirical investigation into the Malaysian Preschool institutions, focusing on measuring their technical efficiency and productivity changes. This study is to examine the nature of productivity changes by means of bootstrapped Malmquist TFP indices. The study use a Three-year set of panel data (2009–2012) for analyzing the performance of 8307 KEMAS Preschools classes during the implementation of the (Government Transformation Program) GTP 1.0. The study considered all KEMAS Preschools classes operating in the sector. The input and output data were manually extracted from the Malaysia’s Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (MRRD) and all KEMAS Preschools. Non-parametric DEA models are employed to estimate efficiency and productivity changes of the institutions. The selection of meaningful approach to assess childrens Science process skills

This paper aims to produce an instrument of observation in the selection of meaningful approach to assess children’s science process skills. This instrument has four categories. First of all, the use of the type of approach encompasses the approaches of learning through play, thematic, integrated, mastery, contextual and project. Secondly, the suitability of the selection of approach encompasses relevance, parallelism, engaging. Thirdly, meaningful teaching encompassing the interaction or discussion, stimulation, involvement, curiosity and questioning and answering. Fourth, children’s science skills activities that cover problem solving, reasoning, looking into the process, analytical, inquiry and reflection. Every item in every category has four Likert scales. Childrens experience and learning opportunities in PERPADUAN (Unity) Pre-school settings

This paper focuses on children’s experience and learning opportunities in ethnically diverse preschool settings. The study involved 60 children and three teachers from three PERPADUAN (Unity) Pre-school settings. A qualitative methodology was applied to explore children’s experience and learning opportunities. Direct observation of children’s free play and in-depth interviews were conducted with the children and teachers within 16 weeks. Observation based on instruments from the ECCE Research Project which included two main standards, an element of children’s learning and meaningful learning. An indicator of standards started with working towards, meeting the standard and exceeding the standard. The quality of PERPADUAN pre-school environment and human resources: teachers

This study was designed to investigate pre-school environment in PERPADUAN pre-school in Malaysia. The objectives are to identify the quality of work environment in multi-ethnic pre-schools; to investigate the practices of teachers’ role and responsibility; and to identify the quality of human resources. The study involved 2004 respondents who are the staff of PERPADUAN pre-school from the government agency who provide pre-school service. Questionnaires and interviews were used in this study to obtain data from respondents. Quantitative data were analysed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), and qualitative data to support the findings from quantitative results. Findings indicated that the work environment at a moderate level. The study also found that only 53.7% of respondents agreed facilities at the workplace is sufficient. Cooperative behaviour in peer interactions during childs initiated activities

This study aims to identify the cooperative behaviour in peer interaction during child’s initiated activities. The objective to focus on interaction between children during learning activity and free play time at early childhood education centres. This study uses qualitative data. A total of 25 children in pre-school in Selangor, Malaysia were observed their interaction during learning activities and free play. The findings show two pattern of interaction: first, children engage in cooperative activity caused by shared intentionality. they cooperated with each other to do the group task. This activity gave the children a chance to practice cooperative behavior. Second, friends were instigated peer interaction. The most interesting findings emerging from the observation, peer interaction in such involved a popular child who would always lead and coordinate games.
