Learning style is expressed as the way a learner approaches a process of learning and how he accrues the content of learning. This normally involves interactions between teachers, students and teaching materials. Knowing appropriate students’ learning style can improve students’ performance and increase student involvement in teaching and learning. A case study was conducted involving 30 first year students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering in an AutoCAD course at Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Polytechnic (POLIMAS), Kedah. An analysis was conducted on a set of questionnaire to obtain the mean value, standard deviation and percentages. Based on Honey and Mumford’s model, the findings revealed that the students’ learning style was inclined towards activist and pragmatist typology. Modern apprenticeship training systems require trainees to have the capability to become highly skilled workers. However, most studies only deal with high-skill and knowledgeable terms without deliberating in depth what skills are required in the high-skilled intentions. Thus, this study is conducted to examine the characteristics of the trainers to form the model of modern apprenticeship trainer characteristics to develop highly skilled workers. Modern apprenticeship system should combines elements of mixed trainee ability. Previous study showed that most trainees enter public training institutions due to poor academic results. This creates the view of public vocational training institutions as second-class education. D&T is a performance-based subject, which includes the implementation of teaching and learning as well as assessment based on the standards of achievement. Therefore, the focus of this paper is to delve deeper into the challenges that came with the implementation of D&T subject and the needs for the development of measuring instruments in which includes the mastering of content knowledge, skill mastery, and the ability to grasp the values in D&T subject. Issue of skilled and knowledge worker is an issue that frequently discussed among agricultural training institutions and employers in the sector. It is viewed seriously by Malaysian government through Agrofood Policy 2011-2015 by emphasising agricultural workers that are highly skilled and knowledgeable to assist Malaysia achieves high-income developed nation status. However, what are the characteristics of those high skilled and knowledge workers? This question is the base of this research. By using qualitative approach, modified Delphi technique / method is chosen as the research framework. Eleven experts from various stakeholders such as agriculture lecturer, leaders of agricultural training institutions, agricultural instructor and agricultural industry employer in Malaysia.
