Effectiveness of multi-frames video recorded experiments on pre-university students achievement for capacitor topic

The aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of multi-frames video recorded experiments (MFVREs) on pre-university students’ achievement for capacitor topic. This study was carried out among 60 Diploma Science students of Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Malaysia. Students’ pre-test and post-test scores were analyzed using independent sample t-test. The effectiveness of MFVREs on students’ achievement were analyzed for four subtopics of capacitor: basic concept of capacitor (S1), series connection of capacitors (S2), parallel connection of capacitors (S3) and combination of series and parallel connection of capacitors (S4). Findings revealed that MFVREs give significant effects on students’ achievement for S2, S3 and S4 subtopics but no significant effect to students’ achievement for S1 subtopic compared to PowerPoint slides. Kesan pemukulan terhadap pemasukan magnetit (Fe3 O4) ke dalam pulpa kenaf

Teknologi pemasukan lumen membenarkan partikel-partikel pengisi magnet dimasukkan ke dalam lumen gentian dengan tidak menjejaskan kebersihan permukaan luar daripada pelekatan sebarang pengisi. Aluminium sulfat (alum) dan polietilenamina (PEI) berperanan sebagai pembantu retensi dengan memberikan kesan positif di dalam proses pemasukan lumen. Kajian ini menumpukan kesan pemukulan terhadap pemasukan magnetit (Fe3O4) ke dalam pulpa kenaf menggunakan alat pemukul PFI Mill. Mikroskop elektron imbasan (SEM) digunakan untuk melihat pelekatan partikel pengisi di dalam lumen gentian, manakala mikroskop konfokal digunakan bagi melihat struktur morfologi pulpa pemasukan lumen. Magnetometer sampel bergetar (VSM) pula digunakan bagi pengukuran pemagnetan kertas. Proses pemukulan dapat meningkatkan kadar pemasukan pengisi ke dalam lumen gentian pada resolusi 4000 rpm. Preparation of fibrillated cellulose from kenaf bast fiber using high speed homogenizer without pressure

The aim of the study is to characterize the fibrillated cellulose (FC), which has been extracted from kenaf bast fiber using high speed homogenizer (HSH). The FC was prepared by applying 10,000, 15,000 and 20,000 rpm of homogenization process for 10, 15 and 20 mins. Morphological observation via Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM) was carried out in order to observe the sur-face morphology of FC while Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy was performed to determine the changing of functional groups. Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) was done for thermal decomposition of FC. Results showed that the diameter of the FC from kenaf bast was determined below 100 nm. The Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy showed that lignin and hemicellulose were almost completely removed during the bleaching process at peak 1,737 cm-1.
